Sweet! So is it true that DL doesn't lay over in LBB, MAF, AMA, or HRL? I thought I read that once or twice somewhere on this board...

And on an unrelated note, I can't believe we're on page 2 of this thread and Pocono Skank hasn't chimed in yet.

Gee thanks. You sound like a real gentleman

I am not going to comment on CAL much anymore. I think it is fairly obvious that the place sucks. And the crews keep getting screwed even more every day, without much hope things will ever get better.

When I heard that the Stivala guy, or whatever his name is decided to switch over to the company after being your head union negotiator, I actually felt bad for you guys.

I am so glad that I turned down that job offer, and you CAL guys can continue to bash me all you want for turning down the job. I really don't care anymore. I feel bad for you regardless of how you feel about me.

I dont think folks here bash you because you turned down a CAL job offer (your sponsor might what to kick you in to noots) people bash you because you are a self impressed wanker that feels like you needed to be pat on the back for turning down an offer.

I have said multiple times on this board that CAL certainly has its problems but I dont regret my decision to come here one bit.

With all your negative posts towards CAL it's obvious that you didn't turn them down. I think it's pretty safe to say that it's you that got turned down. You were pretty excited about coming to CAL when you first started posting and after you got turned down you made up this little story to try and justify your misfortune.

It's not the end of the world. It would have been nice because you would have about 500 people below you already but things are moving everywhere now so just keep applying and hope for the best. If you end up being a lifer at Express then just make the most of it and don't look back.

Good Luck!!!!!

The reality is, the worst Major is better than the best regional. No doubt about it. I'm not saying CAL is the worst major.

Back to the subject thread. You have an obligation: morally, ethically, professionally, and legally to deny a flying asignment if you are truly fatigued.

I've done it a few times in my career (17 years). Only once had to go explain myself. I presented the facts surrounding my decision, and nothing was ever said about it again.

At least they tried

Actually, as of last month we have a minimum in base setting for pbs to avoid this.

Unfortunately, it is based on time you want between trips, rather than a 24 hour clock. In other words, when you put "min time between trips of 13 hours" to prevent the problem of one trip ending in morning and then getting another one leaving in the evening, it also blocks out trips that ended in the evening followed less than 13 hours later by a trip that leaves in the morning. This is so restrictive that it causes alot of "cannot award bid group." Commuters especially, but some living in hub, are happy to get a block of two or more trips together if one lands in pm and leaves in am. This command can make this difficult.

It should have been based on a 24 hour clock or some other solution. Such as do not award trip if less than 13 hours, for trips ending/beginning in xx range (7am to 8pm)" or something like that.

Pretty sad when my regional has better work rules than half the majors out there.

I sure as heck wouldn't trade our bidding system with the POS that CAL now has. I honestly feel bad for all my friends over there. Well except for the 777 reserves, they might just have it made.

They need to hit a home run on this new contract.

Sorry if I don't care much about your opinion on good career choices.

It doesn't seem like you made a good one yet, having been to virtually every b-list/second rate airline out there. Maybe you need help making solid career decisions. Your wife would probably appreciate some stability in her man for a change.

It sucks- so the answer is:

1-get senior

2-get senior enough to bid another airplane

3-move on to a major- but you're not done after that marathon-- go ahead and run another one by getting senior first before your life can be good.

It sounds like a nice theme- but then when so many get screwed for so long- they feel like it's their turn to do the screwing when they are senior...

The only way we will stop the slide that has happened since 1978 is if we adopt the theme:

"NOT ONE PROFESSIONAL AVIATOR STRUGGLES- NOT ONE"

Looking out for the bottom guy says so many things to management it's not even funny.

'I did it so you should do it' just keeps our slide going. All management needs is a divided pilot group. Once they have that- they win- one little bit at a time. Check your history if you don't believe me- better yet- remember anything in the last 5 years.

Pocono, your stupidity and arrogance gets worse with each post. Are you Hello Newman's alternate screen name?

Idiot.

Work Hard,
Fly Tired.

That's funny.

Call in sick. Don't answer the phone. Make sure your cell phone has a different ringer for crew scheduling and teach your family to never answer that ringer.

I have yet to be called to be junior manned in almost two years here, but I know it's probably coming.

Considering I still have seniority numbers at 3 Airlines, two of which are profitable majors that didn't go into bankruptcy I would say I pretty much have it wrapped up.

You just need to work a little harder and maybe you can get hired somewhere too. Just keep applying!!

Good Luck!!

Uniform,

Don't get sucked into a message war with that moron. He probably beats his cat at night because he knows his career is a dead end.

Hi!

CAL:
If you're tired of flying so much at CAL I have a suggestion:

USA Jet. The average pilot only flies about 45 hours a month. With that little flying, we sit around most days and do nothing. So, obviously, we're always very well rested and never tired when we fly. Join us, you'll like it MUCH better than CAL.

Aviation Industry:
Here's what I've learned recently:
ALL the regionals or smaller are bad.
CAL is bad
CAL is better than DAL, which means DAL is bad.
CAL and DAL are better than NWA, which means NWA is bad.
UAL is bad.
USAir is bad.
NetJets (and the other fractionals) are bad, because furloughees are leaving there to return to the above bad airlines.
AirTran is bad.
JetBlue is bad.
All ACMI carriers are bad.
All the overseas carriers are bad.
UPS, FedEx, AA, and SWA aren't hiring.

So, end result: Every flying job is CRAP, with the exception of a few corporate jobs.

Evidently, 95% of us should resign immediately and work in other career fields.

-Hey Poconopilot-
-"Get your b-atch a$$ back in the kitchen and make me a sandwich!"

-Immoratal words of Eric Cartman, never more richly deserved!
-BOO-YAH!

Now thats funny! Maybe Pocono is a guy who dresses like a girl to gain acceptance from a father who has long dejected him for not accomplishing what subconciously he wanted to achieve during his impressionable years....

Those are some big words there Big Meat :)

Anyone else getting their arses handed to them at CAL? I'm new, so this is my first summer, but damn I'm tired. Scheduling is calling trying to junior man me and I'm flying all the time to the FAA limits. I know it's the summer months, but damn I'm exhausted. My friends who've been at CAL for awhile say it's the worst they've ever seen it. Fatigue is a real issue at CAL and i"m starting to think they're going to put one in the dirt if they don't let up on these crazy schedules. Any thoughts?

Call CNN right now......nothing like getting the hysterical news media on your side.

Tell them this.......I'm serious.

Agree to anonymity to protect yourself, and let them run with it.

Maybe Miles O'Brien "licensed pilot" will run it.

"Dejected"? You mean "rejected", maybe? TC

Well judging from Netjets latest attrition list it must have been a very small amount of people leaving to go back to the major they were furloughed from. Most people leaving have been here less than 2 years.

Hey Junior Dingbat.
TWA was a premier airline in it's day.
Was your mother a flight attendant there?
Maybe you're the illegitimate child of Marlborough smoking, Makers Mark drinking hard living TeeWay Capt.
You could have been conceived by the pool in RIO in 1986.

The Pig.

You people are a bunch of sissies.....try doing DA COLGAN.....yes, that's right...
Not only are you allowed to fly 120 hours a month and 34 in 7 on the little beech, but you must hand fly, no gps, no SLATS....into the tiny airports.
And after your 7 or 8 leg day (or more), then they ask you to Part 91 Repo the flight to a maintenance base....no overnight bag with you? too friggin bad. Don't wanna do it? Then next month's schedule will have a few surprises in it.
You still get put up in a ********************ty hotel, with reduced rest, and only then do you get your $1.35 per diem. On top of a day like that, right at 10 hours of flying, I was asked to DRIVE a rental car at 2 AM to a hotel 2 hours away, so that we could start our next day a little earlier...and all of this for food-stamp money.
You guys think you got it bad? Don't ever complain about your 'mainline job'. Some would kill to have it.
Here's to the light at the end of the tunnel.

By the way, I told them to get bent on the rental car bit. That was after they had lied and said we had to drive because there were no rooms left in that city....

Ya, that sounds tough little man. Maybe if you got out of your parent's basement you'd understand that 99% of us have done that exact job. We then moved to a Major, only to have similar rules imposed, and FLY 7-8 hour legs, which is "simple" to a little man like you, right? Except that airport is probably in a different country with different rules, different procedures, and most likely aren't as easy as that 6th leg (whoo) into manasses.

Some day you'll understand the difference, but it'll be quite a while with that attitude. Good luck little boy.
