Calling all Mac Users

...so we could print out a maint form created in Word.... which I have for Mac!

Ironically, Microsoft Word was a Mac product in 1984. It didn't come out for Windows until five years later. (Similarly, Excel for Mac was released in 1985, and the Windows version came out later in 1987.)

I too have joined the cult three years ago and love it, no problems that need more than 5 minutes to solve etc. Real plug and play rather than plug and blue screen, hairpulling etc. However, how long will the no virus situation last when we keep trumpeting Mac's merritts?

On other matters, Citations may let everyone be jet pilots.. but today in many cases they are among the better paid jet pilots to boot.

Probably not forever, but I'm not worried much yet. It's more than just obscurity -- the system is fundamentally more resistant than Windows because UNIX was designed from the beginning to be a secure, multi-user operating system. That means a program can't muck up things (like the core OS) that it doesn't have access privileges for without express user authorization (which involves hand-keying the password). That makes a huge difference, because it means things like spyware simply can't install without the user's consent.

Windows was built as a single-user OS on top of DOS, originally. Security was added on later, but lots of holes and vulnerabilities had to be left to keep from breaking the older software. Those holes are the reason we have the virus/spyware situation today.

It's been eight years since the first public version of Mac OS X came out (the initial server version), and there are still zero viruses out in the wild for it. It might happen sometime, but it hasn't happened yet. Sure makes life easier.

Wow, what a compelling argument... He's also a senior advisor to Google. Are you boycotting them, too? (To top it off, the CEO of Google is also on Apple's board, working with Al Gore. That must really burn you.)

To pull this thing back on topic, does anyone else have problems with flightinfo remembering your user name? I purchased a macbook 3 weeks ago (for use on the road) and for some reason it will not remember who I am when I browse back here after I shutdown, even when I check the box which is suppose to have the computer remember who I am. I am using the default web browser, Safari.

Internet Explorer on my home PC remembers just fine, this is only this website I am having issues with (except iPay).

Yep, I have the same issue with Safari and FlightInfo. I have no issue with any other vBulletin-based board other than this one. Our internal message board remembers me fine, as does the Pro Pilot message board. Not sure what's wrong on FI -- probably overloaded from advertising.

I use Firefox as my primary web browser, and FI doesn't forget me. Only Safari. Not sure why...

MAC and Mac are two different things. (MAC is Media Access Control, and is related specifically to networking.) Just FYI.

I have had this Macbook for 3 weeks, and it is a great computer. My only issue is when I go to use the PC I have at home I am clicking on the wrong things because I am more use to the Mac after three weeks than twelve years using Windows!:laugh:

Macbook since Nov 2006. I refuse to use a PC now.

I also would check flip4mac. I allows WMP files to play on OS X. CA1900 would know more.
