Only a shortage willing to work for crappy pay.
 
I second that. The "pilot shortage" the media keeps BS'ing about is a HOAX. There are plenty of experienced pilots out there, but a lot of them have left this industry for good.

Seems strange to me that people are unwilling to work long hours for crappy pay. Perhaps flying is something we could eventually out source to some of the illegals, then we'd have really great ticket prices.

What's great about this industry is that no company will offer substantially better conditions or pay, they'll just cancel flights, have crashes and not raise ticket prices. It's a win-win for everyone.
