Let's take a straw poll. Who's planning to go?

Will it be the same 20-30 alpa reps nodding like bobbleheads when JR speaks or will there be some interesting events and discussion?

JP,

I'll bet it will be the bobbelheads!

I would be their but I'll be starting a six day trip.

although you may not be able to attend, I'm sure you know others who will be able to attend and ask questions on BOTH sides of this debate ( I know they have them, we ALL do). Please speak with them and encourage them to attend this meeting so that maybe, just maybe, we can prod these two groups into finding the common ground they are (according to BOTH sides) "so close to" and get this thing done so we can all get on with our lives.

Of course I will be! I'm one of the ALPA chest-pounders, ALPA bobbleheads, didn't you realize that?

ps planning to huh, so you won't show then. Coward.

I went. It was a very good, informative, meeting.

It is my impression that the "silent majority" made their presence known and at the same time all the pilots in attendance came away with a better appreciation for the work being accomplished by the ASA MEC and CNC. A good time was had by all and although food was provided, no food was thrown.

And I heard enough good one liners to last an entire four day.

It appears we are close to a release and close to getting this contract done.

I agree with almost all of that, except the release part. I firmly believe a release is NOT in the future. I hope there IS a plan B once the release doesn't come.

I hope we are truly as close to an agreement as the MEC seems to think we are....although my prediction for next week is tiny movements, no release and 2 more meeting dates 6-8 weeks from next Friday. D@mn I hope I'm wrong for once!!;)

Quoting myself from another thread, but I think it is better debated over here....

There was a fuse lit on one huge fireworks display, if you caught it. ALPA seems to be genuinely fed up with the Railway Labor Act and may be considering a test of the legitimacy of the NMB's unfair restraint. "Plan B" as alluded to is actually the strongest talk that I've ever heard from ALPA insiders.

Before firing that cannon they must show that they did everything possible to work within the system. In this instance labor has the moral high ground and strangely, the chest beating, threats and misinformation is not coming from the union side of the debate.

What I heard today was well prepared, resolute, conservative and confident leadership.

There is a process, which should be followed and which should have an equitable result. Under SkyWest's direction, that process has been abused. We have to give the NMB an opportunity to deal with problem which falls within their scope of authority, by providing a release.

Isn't it amazing that we still don't have a "release" after 5 years, but every other employee group already automatically has the right that is denied to us. It is unfair.

and isn't 2008 some kind of election year, or something?

I saw Fins, Scarlet, ohplease and Pennekamp there. Good debate from both sides. Good turnout too. Almost 200 in attendance.....not just the 20 ALPA chest thumpers :P

Joe Merchant was not there, but he did say he wouldn't come. Too bad. If he ever wanted his message heard by the "silent majority" he missed his chance today.

Sounds like both sides were happy with what they heard..... which means one side is going to be disappointed when this is said and done....

I'm glad there was a good turnout, hopefully there is a change of course.....

Hope we see more movement later this month. Something tells me there will be something pivotal about this one. It will for sure show us a release is possible, or that it won't happen. We will see.

Rez: I don't know the F.O. Status Reps - so if one was missing I don't know. But looked near 100% to me.

I hope you mean a change of course from management, but I know you don't. The feeling on this one that the NMB has "talked" with the company leading up to these two dates, and not the union, so the NMB is satisfied that ALPA has done our part. Maybe the NMB told the company if they don't offer a fair counter the NMB will release us. The NMB knows the company is stalling and are solely responsible for this not getting done. We'll certainly know more the first day if the company is serious about wrapping this up.

This too caught my attention. Very interesting concept and could be the stimulus for changing the RLA's bias for managements. New territory for sure.

Thanks Nick for the time restraint--Tom would have talked for days...

Ohplease you are always right......=NO RELEASE !!

Oh yeah, the company is 100% at fault...

you do realize there could also be a flip side to all this speculation about what the NMB has in mind, right? Maybe the NMB has told the company to pass another offer and if alpa doesn't take it, or at least make significant movement to wards the company offer, they will park us for long term....

to assume the NMB is "on alpa's side" here is reckless at best.

Reckless?????????????????????????????

They didnt state it as fact, they said based on the past and how they have been dealt with by the NMB in the previous talks with ALPA/NMB.

Reckless huh?

Medeco

PS, they also said early in the meeting, that they had not put forth their last best/bottom line offer. So, we know for a fact that the CNC has room to move and is willing to under the right terms.

I'll tell you this, JR and CM of the CNC put back alot of confidence in me when I sat and listened to the way they explained why and how they have done things to this point. They have my support 100%

I'll tell you this too. I sure as he!! am glad they are in that room and not you based on hearing your comments at the meeting.

GETTHERR DONE with a baseball bat was your best offer to help. Awesome.
