What type of headset do you guys use and recommend for flying the Airbus?

Nothing above FL180. Go cheap because you only need them below 180 to comply with regs. It's a nice quite ride and is fine without headsets. JetBlue provides the basic Telex headset and that is what 95% of the guys use.

Most headsets won't work anyway, the airbus uses a special plug, almost looks like a microphone cable.

I use the Telex Airman 850 ANR. No batteries required as the ANR gets its power from the hot mic. I think the airplanes headsets stink and no matter how quiet the plane is, 300+ knots down low is not ultra quiet. I use the airbus adapter which turns the 2 jack setup on the headset into one 6 pin jack...

Also do not want to put my mouth on the mic cover thats been used by everybody else

I have no knowledge of a "standard" mic/headphone jack in the bus, but I would plan on using the ones we (F9) have in the plane. Then, get on line and figure out if you want to buy your own or not ...

I've been going back an forth on buying my own for 1.5 years. Sure, every once in a while you get a nasty one where you can taste/ smell someone's lipstick, carmex, breakfast, etc. but then again, you only use them for the 1st and last 10 minutes of every flight...

wecome aboard!!!

just get a nice new clean cover from the jumpseat headset and swap it with yours. then take it with you and keep it in a baggie, always clean.

i second toobdrvr, get online, get settled and see what you think. I thought about going back to the ear dick i used to wear, but the bus is so quiet above fl180 that i've decided to just use the aircraft ones. And welcome!

Some airlines have retrofitted standard plugs on their Airbii. I know AWA (West Side) does this, but the Buses on the East side have the 5-pin connector. I think United has standard plugs, too.

All the AWA planes have the retrofit. I didn't realize that was an option.

It's a quiet airplane compared to the 737 and any RJ. A lot of guys here use an ear mold below FL180. That's more than enough.
