I agree this trip sucks for whoever gets it. But, it is a one time thing, not as if they are doing this weekly.

Delta marketing is to blame for this not ASA crew planning, yes ASA builds the pairings but they dont set the schedules, obviously RAP does not have daily service to support a better pairing.

Dont get me wrong, ASA has big big problems, but 50hrs in RAP is better than 50hrs in MEI, LFT, etc..

RAP-SLC opertates 3 times a day. The problem is that ASA doesn't operate on Sunday so rather than DHD crews on Skywest they make us sit in RAP for the weekend. Easy to see why we need min days.

They could easily DHD a crew out the next day and DHD a crew in to cover the Monday flight. They choose not to do that. They would rather keep a crew in the hotel for over two days than pay 1.75 DHD each way.

Hmmm two things to do come to mind....

1) The better one....Get a case of beer and see how much you can drink in 24hrs....then you still have over 24 hrs to sober up....very legal. And fun if F/A is cute...after 24 beers she will be anyway...

or 2) Commute home.....And get paid per diem

Why haven't you put the gun to your head and pulled the trigger? I couldn't even imagine Rapid City, but I did a 40 hour layover in Cedar Rapids and really came 2 seconds from ending it in front of the Quaker Oates Factory.

I'm taking a guess here - you don't have trip/duty rigs? Personally, I live for the 60 hour weekend layovers but then again, we get about 18 hours of pay to do it.

Take your golf clubs and play a round!!! (Ship them FedEx at your discount)

ok...KRAP aint that bad. there are plenty of bars near the hotel (assuming you are downtown) there is a tity bar. it is not a dry county. in the winter there aint nothing else to do but drink. been awhile since i been there, but it aint all that bad specialy in the summer.
