I am applying and interviewing for a Corporate gig in an eclipse 500. I was wondering if companies plan on flying these single pilot or not. Also, does anybody have any idea of insurance mins for these new light jets. I'm about a 2000 hr guy and wondering if this is even feasible. Any info would help. Thanks guys!

Best of luck on the job!
I haven't a clue as to the ins requirements.
Off topic, I have a bit of a problem with Eclipse.
No reply after two e-mails and a message left on a training honchos voicemail asking about their mentor program.
I have 15K+ hours, 12K jet, about half, PIC. 121 checkairman on 2 jet types.
Not a response, not even a "drop dead, we don't need you".
Even just a, "Don't call us, we'll call you" would have been polite.
Anybody else experience this? Did they hear about my bean burrito diet?

Same with me.

5000 hours
Hawker, Lear, BE-40, CJ Types
Former frac guy
FlightSafety current
Strong ties to New Mexico (a home in northern NM)
College degree

etc. etc.

Not even a form letter.

Because you guys are too expensive! You know that! They want robots that are cheap.

I actually got a call several days ago from Eclipse and they said they are looking for instructors in ABQ. He said instructors would teach in the airplane for about a year until sims came on line, then they would be transferred to other pilot positions within the company (i.e. production test pilots, demo pilots, etc.) The funny thing is that I sent resume over a year ago and am no longer interested, and he said they are really desperate for pilots.

From what I understand reading their website, Eclipse doesn't pay anything to the mentor pilots, the people being mentored are the ones paying up.

I sent an app as well and never got a response.... More than a year ago.
Interesting...
Hmmm now they are desperate? Looks like it might actually be getting better for us these days.

Heard a while back in Chicago that pilots for 135 would make 55-65K

Not sure if it's the same a/c, but Crandall (AA ret) was in a scheme to buy a bunch of VLJs for 135 type stuff.
Bragging he would only pay 35K.:angryfire
Break:
If they're desperate, I'm half tempted to recontact Eclipse. I know a contractor needs to buy their own type.
How much?
How much do you guys think a "mentor" should charge in addition to expenses?
Just looking for opinions, here.
I think a million bucks an hour is just about right.

depending on what they're looking for, you might be deemed over qualified. I've found similar problems a while back when I tried to work for that outfit flying Avante (sp?).. They basically told me we're looking for "entry" level guys that will work for less than you're salary expectation.

Good luck to all with it however, if they pay well enough it could make for a better break into flying than the regionals.
