Compass Airlines Thoughts

The airline has received FAA certification to begin flying the CRJ and is on track to begin E175 ops in Q3.

To those of you who have interviewed with Compass, what are you thoughts on the airline?

Is 100K/year predicated on flying at NWA in two years or at Compass?

Also, if the flow thru to NWA works, does a Compass pilot earn NWA longevity while flying for Compass or does he start at year one NWA pay?

No it's not based on going to NWA, a lot of the flying at compass is paid over time as well as getting full benefits package the other regionals do not offer. This is the DC-9 replacement flying, it is no where near as good as the 9 got, however, it is better than any regional.

Any info on days off, retirement, how going to NWA works, etc.

Pull your head out of your butt you a$$ clown. The Compass deal is low average with no job protections. Second year payrates at this time in 2009 would be $63.50/hour. With the 100 hour monthly credit maximum that would equate to $76,200/year. I've made more than that by Halloween.

The financial terms were negotiated by NWALPA in their latest concessionary agreement.

Whatever happened to the Mid-Atlantic guys? Weren't they all furoughed US Air guys that got absorbed back into mainline? Or were they not US Air guys who instead went to Republic/Shuttle?

Remember the same chief financial officer that formed mid-atlantic, and then sold mid-atlantic for $125 million was none other than the same C.F.O. who is at northwest right now. I would be very surprised to see if compass survives partly because it seems as if history repeats itself all to often in this industry. the same management gets recycled from airline to airline, and take their poor business practices with them. when midatlantic was sold that threw many of the furloughed mainlain usair guys under the bus. the only people that might have benefitted from the whole deal is the guys/gals from piedmont and allegheny that were able to flow up and get a mainline seniority number. But is that really a benefit, who knows?

Plus per diem, and overtime, and high speeds at time and a half, add full benefits and it's over $100K. You can tell your friends you fly a real airliner.
