Republic, SkyWest, or Eagle?

No regional is perfect. Pick the one that best suites you... ie. Corporate culture, bases, flight attendants...

If you could swing it, I would try and work at all 3 at once. That way you might actually make a decent paycheck each week.

But seriously, only you can pick the best one that is right for you depending on where you want to live, can afford to live, upgrade times, etc etc. Everyone here will give you different opinions. So before they do, I will too. Go to Republic. Go to Skywest. Go to Eagle.

If bases are completely equal, and you have good feelings about all 3 companies, I would probably go Republic. SkyWest is hiring a lot of pilots this year for their insane growth, but I think that you would maybe be catching the tail end of their growth spurt, and that your upgrade time would go up significantly. Republic seems to be just beginning their growth spurt, so you would perhaps be farther ahead of the game there. I don't see Eagle growing much anytime soon, and most of their attrition is at the bottom of the seniority list, so I hear...FWIW.

So, not knowing much about the RJ regionals, being an EAS guy, that's my .02...Republic.

When I was at SkyWest, I would often hear that concern from newhires - that is, "Are we at the end of a growth spurt?" While I appreciate the concern, that was rarely the case in my years there. We had a class in session on 9/11. They were not furloughed but continued training to completion even though SKYW flying was greatly reduced. They sat on the bottom for a while. But when we cranked up again, it was Katie bar the door! Now you will see those guys having been jet captains for a couple of years. From what I saw as I was heading out the door, there was a LOT of hiring for attrition and that was before the MEH flying was announced.

As I often said while I was there, "There is not any other place I'd rather watch the airline industry than from the bleacher seats at SkyWest."

Depends they are all decent regionals, if base is not important to you then choose which ever one you could make CA at the quickest, right now I would say that SKW would be the fastest, although Eagle is coming down very quickly, but still think that SKW would get you there a little quicker.

Having spent 6 years at Eagle and 3 at SkyWest now... I would say SkyWest.

Go wherever has a base where or closest to where you want to live. Eagle will have the longest upgrade but is also probably the most stable.

Eagle would get my vote of those 3. They apparently now let you chose your base before you're hired now. Upgrade is sluggish, but QOL is pretty decent from what I understand. Republic never impressed me a great deal, and Skywest is non-union. Thats my opinion for what its worth.

At republic the average class of 20 has about 3-5 guys from Eagle. If that helps!

If we all go to Eagle, a few of the guys graduating with me from Purdue are considering choosing to be based in SJU and fly the ATR around the Caribbean for a year or so, anyone have any experience doing this and any recommendations for or against it?

Yea I'm doing that right now. Ive been here in San Juan a year and am having too much fun to leave. I took my bid out for the jet, so if you or your friends do end up down here, i'm sure i'll see you guys/girls around.

Upgrade times can change overnight. Your company loses some flying, and upgrades stop indefinately. That being said, Eagle has the most secure flying of the three.

If we all go to Eagle, a few of the guys graduating with me from Purdue are considering choosing to be based in SJU and fly the ATR around the Caribbean for a year or so, anyone have any experience doing this and any recommendations for or against it?

If it was offered in my class I would have jumped on SJU in a second, heard it was a blast, and what better way to gain experience.

Maybe you should actually interview first before having to decide which one to go to. Or before you start saying you have offers from all 3. That skywest interview isn't going to be as easy as your TSA one was.

Thanks Just trying to gather some info, and for the record I did not interview with TSA. Cancelled it after I went to their sham of a presentation.
