If what people are posting on the major forum regarding AWA poolies being called by US Airways human resources..... then we are about to be hosed. It is likely that they are being called to fill 190 vacancies, rather then refering to the CEL and our flow through.

There is no flow through! Piedmont will never have a flow through. If anyone from Piedmont or PSA wants to work at US Airways they will have have to aply off the street.

If PDT will never have a flow through, then how did you get your job at MDA?

Supposedly only 36 poolies who knows how many would even be interested still. After them I've read that the 190 would be offered to the CEL list. PSA might hold you for 9mo though.

if they hire off the streets we need to come together and do what ever it takes to make them realize we can not be pushed around. but this time we need to work together and not sell the other one out (PSA!!).

The MEC that did that is long gone.

That's what they* want you to believe, but that is not what happened. The jets were always going to PSA; PDT and ALG were always going to remain turboprop operators, and the lie that we were "in a race" to get them via concessions came from collusion between ALPA and USAirways.

* Management, AAA ALPA. Same desk, different seat assignments.

This is a good time to stick together. We were given flow rights as part of the restructuring agreement, and we WO folks need to do everything in our power to remind mainline ALPA and management of thier responsibilities under this agreement. It is time to pull out all the stops... Maybe retian outside legal council as well?

Don't have a lot to lose at this point. The fact is, both companies will die without some kind of established career track or big growth.

I agree......mainline is going to be looking for 190 fo's soon and I pray that our Reps dont screw this up and not get us in possition to take those seats. I can see it now, all of those seats are going to be fill from the streets and we are going to be left in the dust again.....what can we do to get this worked out with mainline so they dont screw us.. we all know how much our reps have gotten done so far!!!!

what are you some UND F.O. stuck in ROA on Reserve? holding out for the dream that _arrow promised you at the interview? Trust me I've been there ! for over 1 1/2 years, get out while you are still young! go to skywest or Xjet!

no...but good luck at skywest, that 19 bucks an hour is very respectable, but hay you are in a jet, you must be smarter that I.

Hey I'm doing you the favor and letting you know to get out now! PDT is a Great place to start your career but don't get suckered into the 6 year upgrade like so many of your fellow UND Alumni have! then why are Captains flying as FOs? why don't you just retire and go back to the Flight team and practice your Short field landings? Also, my Skywest 2nd year pay is at least $7 /hr more than what you will be earning at 27.75/hr. Also its in a jet not some 30 year old DHC8 with ATARI 2600 Technology! Go for Fifley! Do you wat me to take that $40 out of your paycheck? On Time is from wheels on the ground not when you taxi off!!!!!! BGGGGGGG!

You aren't that UND guy (of the three of them) that CRIED on the flight deck, are ya?

Three. Whining. Crying. Pussies. All of which are at Scabwest now.

The spectacular meltdown occurred with a very, very senior (now retired) Captain- who is a close friend of mine and well, pretty danged good at what he did. He told me the story, as well as the fact that there are (at least) two others.

The kid said something about "I really don't want this leg." It was windy in PHL. CA said, "Your leg, your brief." "I don'wanna." "Either you are flying this leg, or I turn the plane around and let you off. If you do not fly this leg, you are unfit to fly."

The kid cried all the way from SBY to ENO.

** re-reading the way I told it, it seems the CA forced the punk into being unfit. This was planned. He avoided any and all legs that could put him in a 15kt or better crosswind, and that doesn't cut the mustard with this captain. His view was either learn how to do it, or learn how to leave. The kid left.

Heck, those can be some of my better landings.

DING!!

Isn't it weird? You can be flying the approach with a 20 degree crosswind correction and the airspeed drum apparently doing whatever the heck it wants- and .... smooth. But calm air, perfect "profile" approach, and thaDUNK?!??!?! The Dash-8 is a mystery.

Sucit

Piedmont is a good airline, they do what they do very well (with what they are given). The pilot group is second to none and the ex. you get sitting right seat to most of those Captains will do nothing but help you at your next position/ job. What the Ghost is telling you is dont be blind. Something good is bound to happen to PDT the question is when. Many of the FO's had the same attitude as you 5 years ago. Two things happen, some stayed and they are senior FOs on the Dash awaiting upgrade or a flow maybe. The ones that left are senior Captains flying jets at another airline, or flying mainline equipment for Fed Ex, UPS, CAL, or Alaska. I guess its all about what you want and whats best for you and your family.

Oh and P.S. that guy that went to Skywest two years ago and was paid $19/hour was smarter than you. He's logging Captain on a turbojet aircraft, making far more than you.

...And there are others who stayed at Piedmont and and now fly for Fed Ex, UPS and CAL (don't know about Alaska). Different strokes for different folks. Leaving Piedmont is by no means a guaranteed path to riches and that cushy mainline job. Of course neither is Piedmont. The decision about where to work is complicated and very personal. People here ought to regard it as such. Rant off.

Not singling you out here RobCat... Just a convenient place to post my rant.

Whats the matter? Need big pretty moving map glass displays in order to get from point A to point B with the shiny side up? I'm not sure I get your hard on for J.P. Maybe if you had listened to him a little harder the Dash wouldn't have been such a mystery to you. Sure he has his quirks (we all do), but you won't find a guy who cares more about helping folks do thier jobs right than him. Of course, if your attitude sucked as bad as I am guessing, maybe you deserved an extra tounge lashing or two.

Oh yeah... The oldest Dash is 22 years old.

I left piedmont just a few months ago, and i'll tell you this, it's the same ********************, just a different dance! the grass is not always greener on the other side, BUT a future is something that helps me sleep at night. I enjoyed my years at PDT and learned more about flying in that time, than I'll experience anywhere else in my career. I hope the best for everyone who decides to stay there, and the best for everyone who decides to leave. If you're debating on staying or not, the question you have to ask yourself is: If I decide to leave ande something good happens to the PDT guys/gals (which I hope does), will I regret it for the rest of my life? If you can swallow that and be sure about you're decision to leave, then don't waste your time and RUN! my $.02...

Well said! Bottom line is this..... If you don't like where you are, if you don't like the job.... Then you leave!! Like Quack said, its the same crap everywhere........ The only reason that the grass is greener in some places is because theres a sepetic tank underneath that green grass!

I left Commutair years ago, (family health reasons to be closer to home)..... Yea, it wasn't the best place to work. Low pay, hard flying... But I wouldn't take that year of flying back for anything! I formed some of the best friendships that I still have today!

If someone comes to PDT and cries and bitches about the airline, I just suggest they go to one of 50 airlines that are hiring. However most of those folks that Bitch about PDT will go on and bitch at any airline they go to! It's just there nature to whine and complain!

Quack, your right! We dont know our future, and for the FO's that have been here a year and ask me what they should do...... I tell them that PDT is a gamble right now! If your lookin for a 2 year upgrade, then get the hell out of here. If you looking to work with some experienced crews, working under a good contract, with okay pay and want to gamble on a future with US Airways then stay!!

Every place is what you make of it! Bottom line, if your not happy then you leave and get on with your life! Just don't come on here and whine about PDT. There are many silver haired captains at PDT/ALG that have sacrificed to get better contracts and qol for the regional pilots, and to have some 500hr pilots come on here and slam the airline does a disservice to those that are here and have already retired!!

Amen. Ditto. What he said.
