So as I see Mesa just actually managed a new hire class of 30 jet FO's I have to ask.. what do people think is the best regional for the 500 hr people.

Throw out the obvious arguement of instruct until you get 1000 and go to RAH or SKW.. I know that.

But for those that don't want to I'm curious.. heres they way I see it. These are just the airlines off the top of my head that have the low mins I may miss one or two.

Xjet - Clearly the best bet right now.. though the branded flying has some potential for huge instability in the future.

Comair - Good QOL but who knows if you'll ever actually fly there.. scary option stability wise.

Pinnacle - Crappy QOL and same stability issues as Comair.

Trans States - Just crappy QOL seems fairly stable.

Mesa - Awful QOL.. but fairly stable and chance to log a lot of time fast.

Skyway - Massive Instability

Big Sky - good possible growth potential, massive instability, no chance to move past the 1900.

Mesaba(are they down to 500TT?) - Seems like a good bet, but I'm wary of anyone that was furloughing less than 12 months ago.

Anyway.. I'm bored on a day off and this seemed like interesting discussion fodder, doesn't actually apply to me.. just thought I would throw it out there...

I work there.. new award came out today, I counted 28 CRJ FO's that got assigned bases effective end of training..(all IAD and ORD for what its worth)

I'd have to throw Colgan in there too. There is some potential of instability with the whole PCL thing, but I think they'll remain a good solid place to get in, get your time, and get out.

Of course, it's all sort of academic for me too.

Yep. Just looked. Where are they finding these guys? O well mabey they will release me for ERJ training. Who knows?

None of them are the best. Go with the first one that will hire you. They are just a place to get your time and get out. Support the union while you are there to your best ability. Don't make a career out of it. Go for the fastest upgrade.

Regionals will be forever traded like baseball cards. Realize that now, and life will get easier for you.

Ahh Russian.. your flawed Soviet reasoning continues to humor & confuse me.

Just the title of this thread "Best of the 500/600 hr regionals", scares the he!! out of me.

No wonder our company is 40% short on check airmen. They're either all burnt out or been scared to death one too many times.

Seriously...How do people do it? I couldn't go to a regional now if I wanted to. I guess if you don't have a family to support or your significant other is the bread winner it would be an option.

If it weren't for the guard, I wouldn't be able to do it either. I'm on my third deployment in 9 months (2 voluntary, 1 sorta) to help make ends meet. After this one I'm DONE with that sheeet......

Come work for ASA! QOL is great, the pilots are really happy, and we have the hottest flight attendants around! Oh, and I forgot to mention how stable we are these days. This is the place to be dude!

Not where you heard about TSA being stable. Don't remember all the furloughs a few months ago?
