As it nears the end of its bankruptcy case, Delta Air Lines is preparing to roll out a new paint scheme for its jets — the third such repackaging in 10 years.
Delta is expected to unveil the new livery soon after its scheduled emergence from Chapter 11 at the end of this month. The airline isn't saying much officially, other than to acknowledge a new paint job might be in the works as part of a larger post-bankruptcy marketing campaign.

I've heard talk of new chrome spinner wheels for its "Spirit of Atlanta" jet.

Seriously, if I see one more "oversized, obviously doesn't fit on tail" stylized logo... I am going to spaz.

Maybe instead of spending all their money on paint schemes they can stop asking their employees for paycuts.

What a crappy looking new paint job...what a waste of money. What a slap in the face for all those who had to take pay cuts.

I dislike it. It looks to me like they screwed it up or were too dumb to realize it wouldn't fit. Why do they need to reinvent their image? Hell, half the paying fare pax prob don't even know they are in chap 11. Same old junk. What's wrong with the old one? Besides, if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

At least it's not the NWA's "Northeast Airlines" logo.

Now we'll have four different paint schemes in service with the same airline! YAY!

The old one is way better and isn't even outdated looking yet! This new one is boring! I personally like Expressjet's new scheme on their independent airplanes. Maybe not my first choice of colors but original nonetheless.

The new paint is going to be a "Red Tail" with an arrow in the corner. These will come with new hubs in MSP & DTW.

Baja.

Baja...you need to stop drinking south of the border. They have absolutely ZERO chance of merging those two companies. The synergies are too far apart. Now Continental and Delta...now you have something!!

Back to the post...that paint scheme SUCKS! They need to go back to the ole Black nose and Widget paint job. That was Delta...not this other crap!

Terrible! They should have kept the Pepsi can/Gay Pride tail.

This new widget tail is totally ugly.

No doubt that is by far the UGLIEST paint scheme DAL has ever put on an airplane. Save the money and leave things alone........

Synergies??? How common was the synergy between USAir and America West?

You got it man!!! The first is the best, classy and timeless...Bring the original back!!!

Wow...

I guess that will qualify as the new proverbial "Turd in the Punch Bowl"

They don't have money to pay their employees, pay their DCI carries, pay their bills, but they have money to pay a marketing firm to come up with a new paint scheme. Unbeliveable!

YES Delta is in good hands. NOT

C'mon, an airline just doesn't come out of BK without a new paint job...it's tradition!

The painters and marketers always get the upsides to company turmoil.

Uh lets see....they both fly scarebus, 737's and the 757. The 767's that US has is the same type as the 75 and the Scare330 is the same type as the 319 and 320. Synergies...I would say those are just a few! The original US Air used to have bases on the west coast...they are a much better match than NW and Delta. Now United and NW makes sense right along with Continental and Delta.

You are very right regarding fleets and how they allign but for an international airline looking to expand and truly cover the globe I dont think they will base their decision on fleet types as they might have once done IMHO. If you look at the compliment of routes NWA and Delta they were made for each other. Currently 70% of Deltas flying is Europe with very little presence in Asia but a good mix of South America. NWA is the number one US Airline by far when it comes to Asia and routes yet it has very little routes, gates, landing slots, etc to Europe and very little to South America. Continental has alot of overlap with Delta and with this combo you still dont have much Asia which is going to be one of the biggest growth markets in the world (they are growing like crazy there right now.....china is currently using a full one third of the world supply of steel increasing their infrastructure and they have TONZ of people who will fly as they get money. Delta/United wouldnt be too bad but still Delta/NWA is the best. Will take some fleet rationalization but still doable. One of the new board members for Delta is NWA's former CEO. More than co-incidence me thinks. Time will tell.
