ATLANTA, GA--(MARKET WIRE)--Mar 30, 2007 -- Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA), a subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc. (NasdaqGS:SKYW - News), today named two leaders to key operational roles.

Anthony J. DiNota, currently ASA's vice president - Atlanta Airport Operations, was named chief operating officer (COO). At the same time, President Bryan T. LaBrecque named Kenneth "Ken" Ashworth as vice president - Maintenance and Engineering. Ashworth formerly was director of Maintenance at ASA's sister carrier SkyWest Airlines. Both positions are effective immediately.

"Anthony DiNota's process-driven vision has made him a natural leader who consistently attains positive results across ground operating divisions," said LaBrecque. "His innovative leadership, lean process experience and business acumen will be instrumental in further developing and strengthening ASA's overall operational performance -- something we are focused on continuously improving for the benefit of our customers and business partners, alike."
In his new position, DiNota will oversee and direct the day-to-day execution of ASA's operational plan that includes more than 800 daily flights to 153 domestic and international destinations.

Ken Ashworth will hold primary responsibility for strategic planning and direct oversight of ASA's Maintenance and Engineering division, including the operation of seven ASA maintenance facilities and responsibility for aircraft maintenance, engineering, quality control, production control, technical training and materiel.

"Ken Ashworth has a proven track record of success as a maintenance leader within the SkyWest, Inc. family and the regional airline industry," LaBrecque said. "Bringing Ken into the ASA operation now is the right move at the right time. With safety remaining our No. 1 priority, Ken's experience with reliability improvement and his intense focus on quality and cost efficiency will take our Maintenance and Engineering division to the next level of effectiveness."
Anthony DiNota is a 28-year industry veteran who started his aviation career as an aircraft fueling attendant in White Plains, N.Y. In 1991, DiNota joined Delta Air Lines as a line maintenance technician and took on roles of increasing responsibility until joining ASA in 2001 as vice president of Maintenance and Engineering. Most recently, Anthony led a team of more than 1,300 ASA employees through one of the largest operational improvement efforts at ASA's Atlanta hub that continues to result in improved on-time and baggage performance. Anthony holds a bachelor's of science from Thomas Edison State College and a master's of business administration (MBA) from Shorter College. He and his wife Kim have three children and reside in Fayette County, Ga.

Ken Ashworth started his commercial airline industry career in 1980 as a mechanic at SkyWest Airlines in St. George, Utah. Since then, he has held positions as a Maintenance controller and Maintenance inspector. In 1996, Ashworth became the director of Maintenance at SkyWest. In that role, he was directly involved in strategic and tactical planning efforts that elevated SkyWest Airlines' overall reliability to be among the best in the industry. He and his wife Jen have four children and will reside in Atlanta.

Typical ASA! Give someone the job of fixing the ATL operation and when they fail so badly that DAL decides to take over, promote that person to the COO of the airline.

Maybe if I run the airplane off the runway I can get promoted to VP of Flight Operations.
 
I agree, another screw up in upper mgmt. Doesn't make sense to me, wait, yes it does, another Delta moron.
 
I don't know anything about ASA personnel, but if Jerry Atkin has moved Ken to ASA he's serious about improving the operation.

I hope he's good. Mechanics are leaving about as fast as pilots and the planes are being pencil whipped or items are deferred. Last summer I got on a plane with a deferred APU and the pilot's logged reason for the deferment was "NO TIME TO TROUBLESHOOT". I called MX and told them they now had time because I was refusing to take the plane. It was fixed shortly thereafter. (Reset Jet)
 
i think dinota has been running the airport for about 6 months and no one can say it hasnt gotten better - much better. i met him when he was walking around the ramp when i parked months ago and he was as sincere as any asa manager i have ever met.

things are night and day better on the ramp since he took over and he did a great job over mx before hbe moved to the ramp. not everyone in management is a bad guy - imo dinota is a good guy.

You might want to ask around and see which person came up with the plan that has turned the ramp and baggage problem around. I'll help you. Carmine.
 
Just another ex-Delta mgt turd getting promoted at ASA. Ever since Delta bought ASA, and even after selling ASA, it has been nothing more than a place for those Delta turds to come over and trash ASA after trashing Delta. Skippy, BL, CT, AD, loser Gary Gross, and many many more from Delta. ASA never has so many VPs and Directors! No wonder Skywest is canning some of the positions. Of course, looks like SKYW is starting to place their managers here. Could be good or bad, but definetely late.
