So.......any good stories from the last couple days?

2 CRJ crews on the taxiway in LGA for 10 hrs waiting for a gate to open up and the we had 2 crews stay the night in the airport in PHL once the roads had been closed and after the company had spent over $6K on 8 hotel rooms.

I know Air Wis had it alot worse than we did at PSA. How did you guys cope?

Here ya go...

We get on the ground about 30 minutes late. Our original gate is occupied (go figure!). Call Ops, ask for another gate, since they didn't even have the bags yet on our original gate(half the gates are open, by the way). They decide no, you need to wait for the original gate.

Check in the back, about half the passengers have tight connections due to late arrival. Query Ops again, wait for gate. TELL Ops that they have a simple choice, either get us a new gate or we'll pick one ourselves. 60 seconds later, a new gate. PAX very pleased.

Oh, no repercussions from company, PRICELESS!

Peace.

"TELL Ops that they have a simple choice, either get us a new gate or we'll pick one ourselves"

exactly - done that before, actually didn't even tell ops, just pulled the dash up to the end of the terminal around f18 shut down, deplaned the dash and lead the pax in though the F18 door, started back up and went out to wait for a spot. Nobody was any wiser.

While i was reoping an aircraft yesterday, 3/16, I overheard a 757 tell ops that he was taking gate A20something.

Now that is making a COMMAND DECISION! Props to you guys!

Flew a couple of PSA crews back to DAY yesterday. They had all spent Friday night on their airplanes because they couldn't get hotels. Must have been the above mentioned folks.

.... and cue up the standard comments about Mesa's purple plywood boards. :D They were probably more comfortable than I was, since the only room I could find within 30 miles of PHL was a Smoking room. :puke:

CA1900,

At least your monkey was happy. And I'd bet NJA will make it right for you folks. Breakdowns like this make the fractionals even more appealing.

On that note, is Derinda still in charge of pilot recruitment over there?
