6 Imams Sue Airline for Removing Them
Tuesday March 13, 11:32 am ET 6 Islamic Leaders Removed From Plane After Airport Prayer Sue US Airways, Claim Discrimination
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Six Islamic leaders who were removed from a US Airways flight in November are suing the airline for discrimination. The imams were returning from a religious conference in November when they were taken off a plane in Minneapolis, handcuffed and questioned. They had prayed on their prayer rugs in the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport before the flight, and after they boarded, a passenger passed a note to a flight attendant.
When the men returned to the airport the next day, they said, the airline refunded their fare but refused to sell them another ticket.

US Airways Group Inc. has said prayer was never the issue. A passenger reported overhearing anti-U.S. statements, and the men got up and moved around the airplane, the airline said.
The men said they had done nothing that should have been suspicious.
US Airways released a statement saying it hadn't seen the lawsuit, filed Monday, but that its initial position had not changed: that its employees "acted appropriately, and we continue to back the actions of our crew and ground employees in this case."
Imam Omar Shahin, one of the detained imams and the president of the North American Imams Federation, declined to comment ahead of a news conference planned later Tuesday in Washington. The incident prompted the Muslim Public Affairs Council to complain to the Transportation Department, and the Homeland Security Department's Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties said it would investigate.

Hey WD, this should help your post count get up over that 1000 mark!:smash:

Sup Plyt!! Okay now let me go and find some Dirt on Delta!!! lol!!

I'll be right back with something!!!!! wink wink

I encourage everyone to write a letter or email to USAIR and let them know we support them. If they make a settlement it's bad news for everyone.

At least we have the balls to make those kind of decisions and I hope this doesn't deter anyone in the company from making that kind of decision again in the future. For all our sakes, you had better hope this lawsuit doesn't succeed.

pylt, that's the weakest flamebait I've ever seen on this board.

Make it easy: Ban them all.

I agree, How safe do you think the public would feel that the "terrorists" are now boycotting Airways because they feel descriminated against... WAAAAA

Their stock would probably jump back up quick too.

hmmmmmm LCC closed at 47.44 and Delta closed at .79. Don't think you should be throwing stones in you glass house. You just might break a window or two.

Here you go......

"Finally, I’d like to close with some great results we have
received from a recently completed IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). These
audits were done every couple of years and Delta was graded on over 950
standards applicable to any air carrier and received a perfect score with zero
findings. In fact, the lead auditor made the comment that Delta has the
industry’s leading safety programs and is considered the standard other
carriers should be benchmarked against. My hat’s off to those who
were part of this IOSA team but more importantly thanks to all of you, the
professional Delta pilots, for making us the envy of the industry. It’s a
job very well done and something we should all be very proud of."

oh oops

LOL thats funny. Yeah, ok, I'll support the company that goes out of its way to screw its employees over.

mamba,
By supporting USAir on this one you are supporting the crew. Whether the company screws us or not is indifferent on THIS issue. I would think you would be setting a pretty bad precedent if you favored the plaintiffs winning this lawsuit. Though the pilot group is not enamoured with management overall there is pretty good solidarity on this.

I'm going to assume you are just in a joking mood, because you can't be serious.

Another thing. It seems that at the press conference the correspondent for the Christian Broadcasting Network was kicked out. These people hate us!!! (the west)

Now it ain't that, I just don't wish to make my numbers off this subject. The wounds of 9/11 thought healing are not fully closed yet.

Peace

WD.

Just like a convenience store, airlines need to put a "We Have The Right To Refuse Business To Anyone" sign on the plane by the entry door.

Also realize this group is looking not just to sue USAir, but have also included the passengers who reported their suspicions.
