CHICAGO, Feb 20 (Reuters) - US Airways Group Inc. (LCC.N: Quote, Profile , Research) Chief Executive Doug Parker has been sentenced to surrender on March 15 and serve 24 hours in jail after pleading guilty to a charge of drunk driving, the airline said on Tuesday.
Parker, 45, was arrested for drunk driving on Jan. 31 in Arizona, the day his airline withdrew a failed bid for Delta Air Lines Inc. (DALRQ.PK: Quote, Profile , Research).
Judge Joseph Olcavage of Scottsdale City Court also fined Parker $1,646.25 and required him to complete a medical screening to determine whether he has an alcohol addiction.

Good to see that Doug wasn't able to buy his way out of this one. Hopefully he will do some personal reflection, gain a little humility and perhaps get more realistic at the bargaining table. Hey Doug - Don't drop the soap!!!!!!

Oh yea. 24 hours in "jail." Right. He bought his way cheap out of this one. A quick overnight in a nice private cell, then a tearful apology, and back to his multimillion dollar bank account. $1600 fine?? He probably had that much in his right pocket. YGBSM. No word on losing his license?? Doesn't matter anyway, because US Air will foot the bill for a limo and a driver.

If anybody thinks he's really losing anything out of this, they're a naive chump. Like most drunks, he probably wind up having to kill some innocent person on the road before any serious consequences. The rest can all be bought off by an "understanding" court system (that is as long as you're a CEO).

IMO, an irresponsible alcoholic who did not take responsibility for his supposed fourth alcohol-related driving offense.

Just a matter of time before he kills someone.

A "nice private cell"? OK...so what does a "nice private cell" look like? I've got relatives in law enforcement, and from what they have told me, there is no such thing as a "nice private cell".

Now, maybe where you live the taxpayers are happy to pay extra knowing the local jail has a "nice private cell" for such folks...but we don't have one here in the local lockup in my county.

The sad thing is that anyone who works for him probably would have been fired for a stunt like this, yet he will come away unscathed after a repeat offense.
