Good and bad news.
Keeping airplanes is good.
D concourse remaining a parking abortion due to the ATRs is bad.

I agree, but can't remember which one's which. Are you the 'good guy' or the 'bad guy?' And what was the name of the Porsche? I believe that one was the coolest.i just thought it would be cool to have two transformers avatars in this thread....
I still think the best time I had flying was as on the ATR.. It was a pilots airplane. I'll be sad to see them go.
I don't know. From what I hear it's more a mechanic's airplane than anything else, at least at ASA.

PS-Like your screen name. I used to have one of those. It kicked ass!
Yeah, I hear that. However, it seems ASA always needs to have one a/c on property that they only band-aid, and therefore they never really get fixed and work right. Now that that E120's are gone the designated planes none of the mechanics want to work on are the ATR's. Kind of becomes a hassle if you're planning your commute to/from an ATR city. Also, the RJ's issues 99% of the time are fixed just by shutting it down and starting it back up (another reason mechanics like to "work" on it).I was at ASA back in the last millennium and it was quite reliable. Heck, 2/3 of the problems were fixed by resetting all of the FCCs..
The E-120, now that was a mess..

The ATR is a cash cow, and it would not really be that smart to get rid of them. ASA flies too many legs that are too short for the RJs to make money on. As far as parking them goes, that is a ramp issue, not an aircraft specific issue.
Not these days. I've noticed the mechanics don't seem to "fix" crap anymore. If I have one more "op's check good" I'm gonna strangle somebody. If it "op's checks good" how come it doesn't work for shi# when I fly it??? Our Mx controllers need to be taken behind the toolshed and shot! I've had 3 air returns and 2 emergencies in the last 2 months.
Please don't take this the wrong way......Why don't you have them show you that "op's check good" prior to accepting the a/c? Much like Arnold and the bike shop owner, if you're iffy on something, just say no! Don't be a Dudley! There are a lot of new upgrades coming through. This means flight control will be more able to swap a/c around because they 'know' new captains = pushing broken a/c. I'm not saying this is a good thing. In fact, I suggest the newbies take it as a warning. This IS how ASA works. If you have no spine, you really ought not be in the left seat anyway. And if you did return immediately due to something you already said was messed up, good on ya'!! That's the kind of thing we need to see more of. Also, I hope you taxied out on both engines. I've gotta ask though...what were your emergencies, and how long did it take to get parked after you landed on those?

Emergencies:
1. Flaps stuck at 0 degrees on landing
2. Engine surging after takeoff
Air returns: (spread over a few months)
1. See #2 above
2. Broken Thrust Reverser switch
3. Anti-Ice duct overheat
4. Stall Fail
5. Radar Altimeter/GPWS malfunction
The other night we turned down 3 planes trying to head up to a very busy Northeast Airport with a landing scheduled for around 2:30 AM.
1. Repeat flutter damper problem. Written up numerous times and kept giving indications
2. Airplane with no A/P
3. Airplane with broken door and half taken apart. They still tried to assign it to us anyway!
As far as making money, nothing beats the FROG and the training department rocks. Feelin the love now???
