Okay so Scott sends out another letter about contract negotiations. Apparently the mediator has scheduled 2 more days of what can only end up to be "Caucus", with probably 15 minutes of table time at best.

Scott indicated in his email that he is looking forward to the session. I'm wondering why? Does he really enjoy wasting time like this? Does he really think that ASA pilots are going to bend over and take the crap that mgmt has been trying to shovel for 4 years? The folks in the GO obviously aren't getting the message that we have been sending. It doesn't matter what the judge does to the Comair contract, ASA isn't going to agree to a crappy contract.

Will someone please convince the mediator to give us a deadline?

Meanwhile, in other good news, as of Monday, 26 ASA pilots have found new jobs this month. Congrats to them.

Hopefully myself included will resign this month. This company is sorry as hell.

We are offering a pay raise, just dont compare our proposed rates with current book. It is your union that is not agreeing to a good contract that keeps us competitive. Obviously most of my pilots agree since there is no slowdown, sick out, or other job action. Too bad the coalition is not in power since they understood the realities at ASA.

48 Hours = 15 minutes
Yup, sounds like calculus. I got my graphing calculator, but I can't seem to come up with a good equation to figure it. E=mc2 just shoots the whole idea down the toilet......

:rolleyes:You would think that this company just MIGHT get the message, but I guess not! Apparently JA thinks everything is just peachy! What a Jack@ss!!!

Tarzan: You just don't understand the formula Attorneys use to bill time to their Corporate clients who they figure don't look at the bills all that closely. Fifteen minutes does equal 48 hours if you expect to make partner.

Have to giggle at the thought of a Ford and Harrison bill going over to crew pay audit for a little "adjustment."

But hey, why pay pilots to produce a product when you can pay attorneys to accomplish... nothing! Attorneys take you to much better lunches, flip the pilots want you to buy them lunch - so lets get more attorneys!

Back to the topic, why does management try to spin longevity into a story of ten year old current book actually being a pay increase? Don't they think we know better?

The stove pipe arguement that pilots will upgrade has valididty, but with no scope and no fleet, and no block hour guarantee the stove pipe could go the other way, like it did last fall.

Scott is a good guy, but he should not write to us like we are idiots. I believe the pilots understand the competitive environment, but we are not going to accept industry trailing wages when SkyWest could shave a few million by merging the operation and makes the choice to operate separately for the primary purpose of undermining their productive work force's effort to obtain a fair paycheck.

Put us on one list, then run the stove pipe arguement again. It would make more sense if the low wages you are offering provided some objective benefit through growth.

Nothing like pissing all that money away on those attorney's fee's these past 4 years. Let's see now....JA wants a competative hrly rate....ASA attorney's have made more over the past four years than if we were to get a 20% payraise....and YET; We Just Keep On PAYING THEM!!! Yeah....need to remain competative!

I'm guessing around 1.2 million total. If anything, that might be low. Anyone know?

Come On fins....we are just a bunch of DUMB PILOT'S. I wish that my bank account worked on the same "Funky Numbers" mgmnt does.

I trust and support my MEC and Neg Comm. They will stand firm for what the majority of ASA pilots want in the contract. ASA is so desperate that they're now hiring pilots with criminal records, asking us (so far) to give up our vacations for straight pay (pay me triple & I'll think about it), and time and a half for picking up open time (should be double pay). But they have plenty of cash to pay the lawyers fighting us. Typical. Release us and strike this place!

STRIKE ASA!

Not that I have the balls to do it, but are you able to reply to scott's bs emails? Would it get me fired if I started sending him and Labarbeque inflation calculators that show I need a $5 raise to keep up with inflation?

I've written Scott a few times and he's not only responded but personally called me. I encourage you to do it. Believe me, whatever you're about to tell him or ask him, he's heard it before. Call him, his extension is 2292. Trojan

I agree he's called me twice for questions that I have submitted.

It is time to put up or shut up. Lets see if asa bends over or stand up for all regionals.

After 4.5 years and rolling, I don't think anyone's "bent over." After a strike vote, the Coalition vote, what the he!! else do you need? This group will not bend over. I don't know what else you need to prove it. Trojan

Funny thing is that most of the union leadership has gotten interviews at CO. It looks like the company thinks that the problem will go away if they get rid of the leadership. If they do so and it does not change maybe they will finally get it.

I've cornered Scott Hall and he will talk to you (not just run over you like others at his level, but actually engage in a conversation). IMHO he is the best we have ever had.

First of all, the negotiating authority is held by SkyWest. Even if Scott agreed with us (which he doesn't) he does not have the authority to change SkyWest's position.

Secondly, SkyWest is insulated from the microeconomic reality. What Mr. Atkin says about keeping management where the rubber meets the road is actually saying that he likes four tires, shock absorbers, electronic stability control, anti lock brakes and a Lexus leather interior between him and the ASA pilots.

Third (and I agree with management on this) SkyWest sees ASA's competition not only coming from Mesa, but also from Mainline. Delta's rates for small jet flying are less than ours and simply put, if it cheaper for Delta to perform the flying itself, they will.

Every one of us has felt the cost of inflation, but the reality is that ASA could price itself right out of the market very easily. Mainline has lowered the cost of this flying and management has made it a commodity to be bid.

I hope that we are close on the economic issues and SkyWest gives in on the scope issues.

This pilot group will eventually roll over. They blame the MEC and their negotiation team for the lengthy negotiations. They don't understand what it takes to get a good contract!

Aaaah.....no we don't. We blame management and their Ford and Harrison attorneys for stalling due to it's benefits to themselves, Skywest and Mesa pilots contracts for constantly undercutting our pay and work rules, and Delta/Comair's bankrupcy and court appointed pay and work rule concessions. Thse are the forces driving these negotiations.

If you want to ask Scott a question, call him or email him and he will return your call. I sent him an email question are received an answer within the hour. I am impressed that he actually takes the time to respond.

Well, what can I say. I got the call today and I am out of here. I will miss the people, and will remember a lot of my ASA experience with affection, but I gotta go. Management is just disastrous. People like Fred Lambert do what they can in the way of good leadership, but there are too many Scotts & Brians and just not enough Freds.

Ummm....perhaps you are not aware of the strike vote that passed by 92%? This pilot group isn't rolling over and we certainly don't blame the MEC or the negotiators. They are standing firm because WE tell them what WE demand in a fair contract.

Congrats Cardenal. Where are you headed? Hopefully you are senior to me.
