I just heard from a buddy, who's furloughed from ATA, and he told me that there will be a recall at ATA and possibly some hiring. He said that they (ATA) are getting DC-10's, does anyone know where these planes are coming from, and how many ATA will be receiving? Are all the L-1011's retired yet from the ATA fleet?

Coming from Northwest Orient.....

ATA will put the DC-10s in military service and ultimately replace the L-1011s. ATA will only see a net gain of 3 frames and this will also free up the 75s to do West Coast scheduled service to Hawaii and the 73s to start additional international service for SWA. ATA ALPA and the company have not come together on pay and probably won't for a month or so. ATA will probably develop a second officer program so that we can call back furloughed pilots, I don't see any new hiring in the near future.

ATA's potential growth will ultimately be tied to the SWA code share agreement and the desire for SWA to start growing overseas. If SWA makes a commitment to grow south of the border, ATA will see much growth and this should be a good deal for both SWA and ATA pilots.

The real question will be what SWA plans to do with ATA and what agreements will have to be reached with both pilot groups. ATA pilots are in a very uncomfortable position, we just don't know what to expect.

Oh, I think I pretty much know what to expect.

Form 8-K for SOUTHWEST AIRLINES CO

19-Jan-2007

Amendments to Articles of Inc. or Bylaws; Change in Fiscal Year

Item 5.03 Amendments to Articles of Incorporation or Bylaws; Change in Fiscal Year.

On January 18, 2007, the Board of Directors of Southwest Airlines Co. amended the Company's Bylaws to remove the "supermajority" provisions in Article VII,
Section 4, and replace them with a provision that allows Shareholders to amend the Bylaws by the affirmative vote of not less than a majority of the then outstanding shares.

Get ready...

ATA is getting seven DC-10s from Northwest. Calls have gone out to furloughed guys from ALPA asking what their response would be if offered a recall. So far just doing a little surveying.

Oh, I think I pretty much know what to expect.

Hey, wait a minute there, M, things are really looking up around here. They even offered to clip the fingernails on my gerbil before they got that old paper towel tube and jammed, uh, well, nevermind.......

Could you enlighten those of us who don't possess your vast years of career / airline experience or a Crystal Ball?

It doesn't take vast years or career/airline experience to see what SWA did and is doing with relation to ATA.....just eyes. It's not rocket science son.

Shouldn't you be cooking dinner for your man? Is that what you are talking about, knowing what to expect? Can you cook?

I have been hearing that same rumor for well over six months. Have seen nothing to indicate there is anything to it. Don't work for them but live in IND and anything they do seems to get quickly reported on.

You know as much about ATA and SWA as I know about UPS, Nothing. No disrespect meant here but the pilots of ATA and SWA know very little about this unique relationship but you Nothing.

Miss M-Death,

I'm sorry, but the Human eye is only capable of seeing the obvious. Ask David Copperfield. Or perhaps Gary Kelly. It takes the Human brain to decipher the information given by the eye and pass judgement on what it should, or should not, believe to be true.

There is so much more to this than meets the eye. SWA is hiding things in plain sight, and doing a very good job of it. They just let everyone draw their own obvious, yet erroneous, conclusions. Just as they want it to be.

I think many of you may be quite surprised at the final Chapter of the SWA/ATA Book.

Stay tuned...the plot thickens quite nicely in the next 6-8 months.

The World Needs LUV...... ?

Southwest Airlines is to begin an international code-share agreement with ATA by 2009 that will open markets for the Dallas-based low-cost pioneer in Canada, Mexico and maybe Central America. Executive Vice President Mike Van de Ven notes that Southwest already is gaining access to Hawaii with ATA code-shares.

1. I'd say that it's pretty obvious.

2. I sure hope so.

3. Once again, I hope so.

4. Quite nicely for who?

This pretty much goes along with what I say is obvious.

No disrespect taken but um, it's kind of obvious what SWA is doing. If denial is what makes everyone feel better than so be it.

KUMBAYA EVERYONE!
