mid feb huh? seems like a unch of us will be in mem and dtw longer than we want. how long is mx training?
Mesaba mechanics told to get their passports and travel docs ready by mid Feb.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
So when are the BIG recalls going to happen?
There will still be people on furlough because there will not be a gain of aircraft. XJ lost all of the Avros and the saab fleet shrunk. What was it like 106 total airplanes in June of 04? 106-56=50 then you add the New CRJs(maybe) 50+36=86 so 86 planes still equals people on furlough.
Are thouse on furlough seriously considering going back?
There will be additional attrition since you should be able to bid over to compass as the ERJ's arrive.
Lots of upcoming news this week at Mesaba. The Rundown:
Tuesday: Mesaba announces its restructuring plan
Wed: NWA announces Mesaba will be receiving 36 CRJ 900's with the
option for 90 more
Thurs: Mesaba begins sending out recall letters to furloughed pilots for
a Feb 17th class.
Thank You.
mmmm wonder how big the first crj class will be? any thoughts?
36 CRJ900's = 360 pilots (5 crews per airplane)

Some one check my math, but last time i check 5 fo per plane for 36 planes equals 180 FOs. Is my math wrong? There wouldn't be any new CA unless you are figuring multiple training cycles fo a guy. CA saab CA moves to CRJ CA now FO upgrades to CA saab now there is a new hire spot. Is that what you are saying?
oh and everyone on furlough is most likely a FO unless there is a CA that took a voluntery furlough

AvroGuy, Lay off the beer man. It takes more than an FO to fly a CRJ900. Reread your post after you sober up, perhaps you will figure out how 36 new airplanes would create 360 NEW pilot positions at Mesaba Airlines resulting in all furloughs being recalled and off the street hiring, even if all 226 take the recall.
Try 3 in May, then 2 per month thereafter till October 2008.Unless they have a "hidden" stash of Crj's in a hanger somewhere, my guess is Xj will begin receiving them in April or May at the rate of 3-4 a month. If that's the case, then the classes would be around 18-22. Also all returning furoulghed pilots get to bid the new aircraft if they choose. My guess is that there would be enough senior FOs who would want to get off the SAAB and into the jet. The only question is how many of the 220 presently furloughed will be returing? I know I am going to pass on a recall until I can hold a decent line. This week should be interesting though.

I realize that that it takes more that one to fly the jet, but when the fleet was over 100 planes at Mesaba's peak and now they are down to 50. Add 36 jets that is a two person crew. Most CA are still there FOs are on the steet. Again how does 36 jet equal 360 new pilots when one seat will come from within the company. Now at the end I ask if multiple training cycles was being counted. Overall that still puts Mesaba at 86 planes.
Instead of critisizing how about explaning the reasoning.
I'm just speculating here, I'm don't know what is happening with the Sjets. Ask me about the 787.your pilot friend, let me ask you this since you seem to know, does this mean pinnacle will be the sole operator of the 200 for NWA, or will mesaba take the 17 that they are getting back when pinnacle does not have a contract at the end of march?

Also, I don't know how 36 ERJ's at compass will make that company profitable; Nor will it give it any value in an IPO. So if compass does materialize, it will likely be selected for any additional growth. If they scale back the saab in the ASA, XJ may still be a 5+ year upgrade.
