Who is this LJ? Does this have to do with the recent MEC elections? Is she some tool who tried to take over so she could move on to management?

She already was management. She tried a coup attempt and it was a miserable and embarrassing failure. Thank God.

Hey now - she stuck her neck out and I respect her for her involvement. If you did not like her ideas, then attack her ideas. Interestingly, the incumbants adopted much of the LJ Coalition's platform. If nothing else that was a positive effect, if they follow through with their campaign promises.

The LJ Coalition made a very legitimate point that we have to get scope before we can build a contract. They also were more interested in our pilot group than ALPA's political desires.

The current negotiating quagmire we are in is the result of the alter ego bid war that ALPA National has encouraged.

As ASA has fought in vain to achieve an industry leading contract, ALPA National has negotiated, endorsed and ratified contracts which gave other pilots a "bargaining credit" of $150 million dollars for flying ASA and Comair pilots were performing.

and lets not kid ourselves about where the $150 million was coming from. Just to add a little downward shove to pay rates as the Requests for Proposal were going out, Delta negotiated pay rates below ASA current book for similar flying (larger airplanes actually).

It appears ALPA is going to continue to fight for "industry leading" at ASA, with ASA pilots on the front lines of the battle. In the mean time ALPA will continue to cut deals like Compass, designed to return flying to mainline seniority list pilots by underbidding the Regional guys who want industry leading with sufficient longevity to make flying an RJ a little lucrative.

We are in a tough spot. We have great local Reps doing a very good job who are undermined by our National Union at every turn. We also have a management team which barely bothers to hide its desire to whipe ALPA off the ASA / SkyWest property. Our union is in a war and some of us are tired of ALPA fighting with its national arm tied behind its back.

I am hopeful that some of the reforms illuminated by the LJ Coalition will see fruit under the leadership of our elected Representatives. They are all good folks and I appreciate them standing up and taking all this crap to try to improve the lot of the average ASA line pilot.

I only respect people for their involvement if they are getting involved for the right reasons. She and her RJDC-loving boyfriend weren't in it to help the pilot group, the Association, and the profession. They were in it for ego aggrandizement and selfish desires. They deserve no respect, and they'll certainly get none from me.

You've got it backwards. The "coalition's" platform was largely comprised of objectives that the current leadership had already set. The only thing different that the Jackson-Breiling coalition offered was a ridiculous 90-day deadline that ensured nothing except a BOHICA TA.

They also were more interested in our pilot group than ALPA's political desires.

Are you implying that DN, NT, DU, et al. are not interested in your own pilot group? Pretty serious allegation, and nowhere near the reality of the situation.

And South mentality still lives........What a shame!..........at least she had guts to run in an election and voice her opnion. I don't know her personally, but I respect that.

No, I'm not taking swipes at our Elected Leadership. Please don't put words in my mouth. Here is what I wrote...

We have great local Reps doing a very good job who are undermined by our National Union at every turn.

It might surprise you that I worked to get one of our elected Reps elected earlier in his ALPA work and voted for the status quo in this last election. Like you, I had concerns about what was to come after 90 days passed.

...and the defeat wasn't "humiliating," I think "a relief" might be a better choice of words. Our Pilot Group is in a tough spot and providing leadership right now is going to be very difficult with a lot of decisions which someone will always be critical of. Again, I respect the LJ Coalition for stepping up with what they believed was right, despite the fact that no one makes a penny for all the work they put in and for the post part divergent views get attacked like that fellow on the other thread who put a bananna in his pants.

The LJ Coalition was an interesting idea and why have elections if we don't have choices? If we castigate those who express an independent thought, how do we get the best ideas from our pilot group?

Her winning might have had you a contract by now.

Possibly superpooper, but the majority don't want the kind of contract she would presented to us for membership ratification. Anyway, why do you care? Does your scab daddy know you're here on the 'commuter' board after he got you that major job?

STRIKE ASA!

I'm ashamed to work at ASA, and not because we don't have a contract, but because we still have this Southern-Redneck mentality. All you ALPA die-hards always rant about "if you don't like what's going on, then get involved." But when someone does get involved and wants to do something a little different, they get ridiculed.

Use a little intelligence and grow up. I support my Union, but I also give LJ a whole lot of respect for trying.

ASARJMAN, it's time to grow up and let the election go. Lynn got trounced, let her try to save face. Everyone cuts up with her in the smoking lounge, then makes fun of her when she leaves. She's already getting what she deserves, there's no need to keep making juvenile internet attacks.

Your an a$$! All that Sodium in that Ramen has let stupid run from your brain to your mouth. You say I'm, then we, so you are just part of what you say is the problem. Once again, your an A$$! Go back to those backward ass, trailer living, crack addicts living in Pleasantville(Atlantic City) NJ if you don't like it. Things are SSOOOO much better with smarter people in that sh1thole!
