How many 717s do you guys have? I've been hearing rumors.

You have 30 -700's? How many pilots?

Gup

airtran will sell all 737 to SWA, then buy midwest airlines, same fleet, a few years later they will merge with Frontier using the a320 for long haul like JB

Ok... Thanks. Rumor mill doesn't make sense. 86 "other type" aircraft doesn't fit the model. I didn't know you had that many 717's.

Thanks again.

I heard, even though Herb swore off another buyout, that you guys MIGHT be a target. You've got the jets and we need them. But, IMO, you have too many 717's to make a deal anywhere plausable.

Sounds to me like the girlfriends janitors daughters cleaning lady heard something.

Personally, and nothing against you Tranny dudes, I wish Frontier hadn't bought the Bus. I think that would have been a slam dunk.

Take care,
Gup

I've got one word for that rumor--Codeshare

It may end up being a killer combo (SWA, Airtran and ATA)

All other LCCs beware!

Does anyone know if NetJets is going to get B757's?

Ya scared me

What if this were to come about. What do you suppose would happen to current AirTran pilots? Would SWA actually keep em?

job security

Why would SWA want to buy AT's assets? They would get the 36 -700's but what do you do with the 717's? It would cost alot of money and put them out of the steady growth plan they have been on (Which has obviously been working). Our pilots would be screwed for sure. I Don't see it, but stranger things have happened.
Hmmm...85% hedged at $49/BL in 2007. 43% hedged at $44/BL in 2008. Less than 30% leveraged and a gozillion dollars in the bank. I think SWA can pretty much do what they want. Nice if you're a SWA guy. To quote one of my favorite movies ( Office Space) " It must be nice to have that kind of security".

I don't see a codeshare happening because SWA wants a lot of control and you must be a "willing partner", read that as desperate. It worked with ATA because ATA was more than a willing partner and has given SWA much control. Airtran just isn't desperate enough and probably wouldn't agree to bending over for SWA.

Now that I said it won't happen it is guaranteed to happen, that would be really interesting!.

No, if the past is any indictaion of what to expect.

When we bought Morris Air we brought EVERY PILOT they had and put them on our list. We paid them the greater of what they were making or what our payscale offered.

If that's any "indication of the past" then I'd say we treated them fairly.

You have to love flightinfo. Why would SWA buy into AT when there are more valueable assets that would be up for sale with the US Air / Delta merger. Any who, it must be true it is on flightinfo.

I don't see that as very likely to happen.

What wouldn't surprise me at all is if AirTran Holdings bought or merged with Frontier, then kept the certificates and the pilot groups separate, and then whipsawed everyone over growth versus reduction of flying . . . not just pilots, but also Boeing and Airbus, too.

Maybe throw Spirit and Midwest in the mix, just to jazz it up a bit.

There are no gates in ATL

JERRY: Yeah, ya know the other day how you mentioned that there were no houses available in Tuscany?

MAESTRO: You didn't find one, did you?

JERRY: No. I'm not really looking.

MAESTRO: Nor should you.

JERRY: So are you telling me there's not one house to rent in all of Tuscany?

MAESTRO: The houses are passed down from generation to generation, it's
very hard.

JERRY: I can't get a sublet, a guest room, a cot, nothing?

MAESTRO: It's booked solid!

ELAINE: It's BOOKED Jerry!

JERRY: How'd you get yours?

MAESTRO: Got lucky. Come on, Elaine, let's take a ride, I was about to pop in some Verdi.

Well, if Herb wants some gates in ATL, he'll be dealing with Mayor Shirley Franklin . . . and the Mayor don't like no Verdi . . . he'd better come across with some Courvossier . . . . know what I'm sayin'? ;)

SWA would want multiple gates in ATL, they don't exsist. Even for the mighty SWA.

Forget THAT!! Bring her some Colt 45 and you are in like flinn!!

SWA isn't going to squander good relations with their employees over 37 -700's and then have to deal with the scabs at AT on the senority list. There are better opportunities.
