WASHINGTON, Nov 20 (Reuters) - Low cost airline and travel service company Allegiant Travel Co. filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday to sell up to 5 million shares for between $15 and $17 per share in an initial public offering of stock.

Underwriters, led by Merrill Lynch & Co., have the option to buy an additional 750,000 shares to cover overallotments, the filing said.

Assuming an offering price of $16 a share, the company -- which earned $10.3 million on revenue of $180.2 million in the first nine months of 2006 -- would have an initial market capitalization of about $300 million, according to the filing.

The Las Vegas, Nevada-based company expects to list its shares on the Nasdaq under the symbol "ALGT"

NEW YORK, Dec 8 (Reuters) - Shares of Allegiant Travel Co. , which operates a low-cost airline, soared 40 percent on Friday, a day after pricing above a forecast range.

Shares of the company traded at $25, after opening up 33 percent higher at $24 and briefly touched $50 in morning trading on the Nasdaq.

Allegiant Travel raised $90 million on Thursday with a 5 million share initial public offering that sold for $18 per share compared with a $15 to $17 forecast range.

Underwriters led by Merrill Lynch & Co. have the option to buy an additional 750,000 shares to cover overallotments, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Yeah, just look at you by yourself in your hotel room while those Allegiant guys are at home spending 1/2 has much time at work as you and still flying 1,000 hours a year! booya!

Why is this on the Major board?

Why are you on the majors board? I haven't seen any majors running C150s or E120s or CRJs! ha ha!!!!!!!!
 
Hey Bubba and Bud (you guys related?), I'll copy the post I wrote this AM on the other site (LCC). Mr Frog had similar sentiments regarding Allegiant's pay scales. Speaking of which, Capt Bud, check airlinepilotcentral.com for an updated Allegiant payscale. Admittedly, nothing to write home about, but neither was SWA when they started out. We've had an in-house negotiate back-to-back raises 2 years in a row amounting to almost 20% along with ample work rule improvements. We fully expect another raise in '07. Things are getting better fast.

I'm barely over 2 years, left seat, averaging $9K per month. Some guys w/ similar time get paid more w/ heavy crew ($10K-$11K). Is that enough for you? Not that I really care, as it's more than enough for me. You see, I don't have to completely ruin my personal life to get that. No personal time wasted sitting around airports on 4-hour layovers (been there), living 2/3 of my evenings out of a bag in yet another God-foresaken hotel room (done that), waiting in the snow for another crew van (yep, that too), or sitting between 2 sweaty fat dudes on a nail-biter commute (when I don't get bumped...). There are no stinkin' crash pads ($), spare cars ($), or daily expensive meals. I feel healthy: I can eat right, get to the gym frequently, and most importantly, I'm not chronically fatigued by wrecking my sleep schedule across 4 time zones every week (makes you old fast). The list goes on...

This job is a breath of fresh air in a profession that has become a complete nightmare. I average 12 -15 days a month (more--or less if I choose). Before I forget, here's the best part: I leave for work in the morning, and I'm back home by afternoon, BEFORE my wife gets home from work and the kids get home from school! Wow!...watching the kids grow up along with having the personal time to enjoy my life...what a concept.

Yes, you can make more elsewhere and visit your investments 2.5 days a week (starter castle, Lexus and whatever family/friends you'll have left). Knock yourself out,...you might even gain the distinction of being the richest guy (frog?) in the cemetary. Your standard issue airline ex-wives (3-4 usually) will enjoy your wealth but probably won't visit your grave...nor will the children who never knew you.

As I've stated in the past, it's not for everyone, but ideal for those who have their priorities in line. We come from a wide variety of backgrounds, many of which from majors. Most have no intentions of going back...go figure.

If you don't like what Allegiant has to offer, apply elsewhere.

...And good luck chasing that elusive wealth and prosperity.

I really enjoyed working at Allegiant and I think the quality of life would be great if you live in Vegas or Orlando but this is a little too much.

You can do turns at just about every airline if that's what you want. You just have to live in base.

I may have been at the wrong airlines, but my experience has been that outn'backs were very tough to come by, inconsistant and tended to go very senior.

In any event, point taken...and good luck in the 'new' uniform (I'm always hoping it'll be my last...)

That's probably true at most airlines. When it comes to CAL they go junior because most pilots commute to EWR. I'm not sure why though. I mean we do have Tony Soprano to offer. :laugh:

I'm sure it will be your last "uniform" at Allegiant. I think they are going to do very well.
