currently F/O for a regional and really needing/wanting to live in japan some day without going the contract route. (wife japanese) air mirconesia seems like a logical choice. anyone know how hard it is to get into the guam base? far as i know no erjs flying around japan so my experience even as erj captain won't help directly. thanks for anyones info/advise.

Depends on your timeline... Continental Micronesia goes way senior right now. If/when you can get on campus, you can probably bid over there in a year or two when spots open up.

I talked to some of the new hires at Continental and most of them has been given EWR base and that GUM stuff can be slightly senior but if you ever get there, it almost sounds like a do-able option. There are like three flights between NRT-GUM (a couple of them are B764s) and two between NGO-GUM (B738s). Oh, and Japan's regional flying (very little of) are all Canadair products so far. I am sure someone else in here with experience can spot some light on all that.

that's not too bad...now i just got to get on with continental...something tells me working that the evil step child won't help matters.

Don't sweat it Da Vinci, when Hawaiian and Continental merge, all the GUM flying will be done out of HNL, and the GUM base will close.

Now thats what Im talking about, Enough with us and United already. Throw in Alaska with the mix, and i think that would be one hell of a carrier.

I almost hate to say it, but a CO/HA/AS combo would be one sweet airline to work for.

I"m not in favor of mergers, because someone always gets hurt, fired, or furloughed. If a merger with my company is going to happen though, it's nice to daydream about the best ones, and I like what might happen with this one.

man...i just want to live in japan w/out an over the friggin pond commute or a nagging wife. hahahaha. life is good and living in guam seemed the ticket...but...this is the airline business. anyway...i read a post from early this year about xjt that started something in the neighborhood of...this info is from a very realiable source...or something like that...and it was regarding all the flying we would be doing for american airlines...hahahahahhaha...of course that is old news and the stress remains regarding the unflyables. who knows what will open up by the time i get some pic time. by the way, any of you guys know anyone who commutes or flys in/to japan?? is it a hard commute...usually empty seats? thanks for any info!

Wait.... Asian women nag also? (Joke!)

Try applying for the ANA 767 job thru Parc Aviation. A buddy of mine just got hired there. The training sucked, too long but other than that seems like a great gig with decent pay. You can be NRT or ANC based from what I understand. It's a 5 yr renewable contract and many new-hires are 12+ year DAL pilots so at least some see it as a better opportunity than flying for a US carrier.

I flew a contract for Parc a few years back. Without question, they are the most professional contract/ crew leasing company out there.

The new hire class break down through the May 7th class has no Guam slots. Just as RIOtoPilot said it goes very senior, many people don't leave from their so few slots open up. FWIW!
