Who is saying SWA and JB would do it all? How about a stand alone Comair? Trust me, some one will step up to the plate. Airtan maybe?

Sure, keep saying that. A stand alone Comair? Hah! It would be liquidated rather than be kept for competition. (If USair took over) And Airtran filling in? They didn't like RJs and decided they were not for them. Nope.

I have finally seen a reason why this merger won't work.

I must admit I was wrong. With this information the balance changes the other way.

Unless there is a drastic change in revenue trends, I can't see Delta rocketing toward huge losses again.

Why else would the BK judge want to cancel the Delta pilots contract??

6 months to 2 years after exiting BK is another story. That might prove to be a great time to merge. But it will be with another company or under different conditions.

What's wrong with Comair? You're right, it would seem like it was liquidated after everything was done. How about capt's and FO's getting paid 50 and 25 per hour to fly those routes?

Airtran doesn't do RJ's. They could slowly fill in the gaps as they expand flying 737 and 717.

It'll happen, where there is money to be made, someone will step up to the plate.

Airtran will fly 717s or 737s into Florence, SC? Lynchburg,VA? Huntington, WV? Those are cities only USAir and DL fly to. IF a merger happened, atleast one of the routes to either ATL or CLT would be cut. That is lack of choice, and bad for the consumer. Those cities are too small to support anything larger than an RJ. There are plenty more examples.

Who says anything about screwing anybody?

Oh yeah the ATSB loan is being paid back with interest thank you.

Sure it's being paid slowly but taxpayers took the risk to allow the companies to survive. To use that to try to take out a competitor is unethical. I have no problem with companies using BK or stabilization loans to survive. I don't want to see any employees hurt in an airline shutdown. Using that government money to prey on a competitor is another story.

What makes you think its taxpayer money? Citigroup puts up 7.2 bil. 4.0 for cash and 3.2 to refinance some other loans and the rest is coming from stock. The stock price reflects what people think it is worth not actual money the airline has (simplified, yes but nonetheless makes my point). So again what makes you think its taxpayer money funding this rediculous idea of parkers...?
