Are there any carriers that will allow an off-line jumpseater in the cabin on flights to Mexico? Any special processes or considerations involved?

I've been asking gate agents but they have had no clue.

AA does if you are on the reciprocal list. The international one, that is. Pretty sure SWA is on it.
Still cabin seat only on International, no cockpit jumpseat.

Bring cash and a checkbook....

.......when exiting Mexico, you will have to pay the Customs fee at the ticket counter before you pass through security. This is for each flight you plan to ride. If you do not get on the first flight, you will have to go back to the ticket counter to get a refund and buy the next one. No refunds state-side.

Allow plenty of time.

There used to be an airline that operated out of LAX called Aerocalifornia (sp?). They operated DC9's. I jumpseated on them 3x LA to Cabo San Lucas. Great service. Hot food and free drinks served by a hot little F/A. Don't know if they are still in business. I believe they had several destinations in Mexico. If that doesn't work, AA and Continental have always been great to Mexico.

I believe the Mexican government shut them down for a period of time earlier this year for unsafe maintenance practices. However, I was in Mazatlan in September and saw one of ther airplanes taking off for a passenger flight to Tijuana so they might be back in business. Not sure if I would fly on them though. Their DC9s look extremely beat up and worn down.

They are still around, don't know where they go, but I saw them in Guadalajara and LAX last week..

You can ride us(U5). Just show up early enough to get on the manifest and in the apis system.

I got on with Mexicana riding on the actual cotpit from LAX to Mexico City. It was the best ride ever. The two pilots were extreamly caring. Just make sure to ask the captain direcly.

Hi!

USAir and Spriit work well on the East Coast. ATA works, and I think it's also possible on Champion Air. Sun Country gave me a confirmation number-they were VERY helpful.
