I know the lines are probably blocked anywhere from slightly under to way over guarantee. What would you say is the "average" pay credit for lineholders on the A320 and the 190?

No lines

There are no 'lines'. We use preferential bidding. I average about 80-85 block with an average of 85-90 credit. With between 15-18 days at home. Notice I said at home. Not commuting days.

I'm a pretty junior 320 dude. I average about 85-90 pay hours each month with 15 days off. I've had 3 months in a row crediting more than 100 hours and flying about 90 with 14 days off. My December starts at 78 hours with 19 days off. I might pick up a 4 days and bring that total up to 98 hours with 15 days off.

so the pay isn't that good without whoring yourself out huh, what a place you have to be a slave to make a fair wage. I 'll bet the regional you came from you would do anything for jets. flame away

He did mention that he pretty much just started there. Comparitively speaking, JB's starting pay is significantly higher than the legacies' starting pay (at least according to airlinepilotpay.com), especially with time-and-a-half after 70 hrs. If you want to slam these guys, you might want to check out your facts first. You must be lucky to have skipped flying for a regional.

Why is it most folks who readily slam someone else's airline seem afraid to say where they work? No guts? Afraid to open themselve's up to the same criticism?

I average ~80 hours pay credit a month with 19-21 days off depending on the month and what the minimum bid is. Pref. bid is fantastic.

No need to flame away on you, by your post everyone already knows your a jerk.

WOW! That's about 7.5 to 8 hrs a day. If you are serious that is awesome! Who do u work for? Can u send me an app?

By starting pay, did you mean first year pay? Comparing 320 FO pay at NWA(LOWEST PAY AT THE LEGACIES) versus JB it is a wash. If you avg 80 hrs a month for the first 5 years NWA pay is a bit more. At 85 hrs a month pay is equal. The 1.5 multiplier past 70 adds up.

Yep, I mean first year pay as in the guy getting slammed for "whoring himself out" just started at Blue.

It has nothing to do with pref bid and everything to do with the kind of flying JB does and their average daily productivity. The higher the daily productivity the higher the average days off per pilot. You could get that kind of time on and off with pre-constructed lines as well.

According to his profile, he flies the 190. From what I have heard that is not the most productive fleet at B6. If he is getting what he says (and I have no reason to doubt him) I would guess PBS sure helps.

The LCC starting pay may be higher, but the second year pay at a Legacy more than makes up for it.
That depends on the legacy. At CAL, our second year 737 pay is still behind JB, especially when you consider 150% pay after 70 hrs. Regardless, my point is that a starting salary of fifty grand isn't what I'd consider "whoring" rates.
Now if you want to talk about JBs EMB rates, that's a different issue...

PBS doesn't build the pairings/trips/sequences/rotations/whatever you call it at your airline. It just puts the trips into a line for the pilot. A separate optimizing program (the same whether it is a PBS world or pre-constructed line world) builds the pairings from the raw flight segments. Those pairings determine the average daily productivity...then which determines average line credit and days off (based off of the line divisor, which is set by management or one's pilot contract).

Plus your 10% DC + Profit sharing.

That depends on what the real barometer is. How many seats does JB's A320's have? 156 I think? CAL's 737-500's have 114 seats while the 300's/700's have 124 seats. I'm not going to defend the $56/hour for a year 2 737-500/300/700 guy at CAL because it is way low but it is the same as JB's year 2 rate of $56/hour. Granted, JB guys get 150% over 70 but year 2 CAL guys get $63/hour for flying the 800/900 along with a 10% DC plan now (and 12.75% in July). And let's not forget that many year 2 pilots are on the 756 which pays $63/hour and $73/hour respectively for the 757 and 767 (and many are waiting to be trained on the 777 and $73/hour).

At the end of the day people shouldn't solely base a decision or their view of an airline on year 1 or 2 rates. So many other factors apply. If I based my decision on year 1 rates and lack of health care for 6 months I would never have come to CAL. But one needs to look a little farther down the line to make an educated decision.

No argument here on those points, but the reason that I replied is because someone stated that the first year JB A320 pilot had to whore himself out. I strongly disagree with that statement. Their first year pay is not at poverty levels. If he chooses to fly a hundred hours a month, that's his business (as long as no one is on furlough). Heck, a lot of guys that I fly with have a hundred a month as their goal and they're definitely not on first year pay.

I think JB does it right first year...$50ish an hour is the minimum of where I think year 1 pay should be for a major airline. That is where DL is too. $29.97/hour and no medical for 6 months is tough...but both of us obviously saw beyond it.

So what u are saying is that at JB trips are 7.5 to 8 hrs a day? WOW!! That's pretty good. I would like to see a bid packet. Is that possible?

Unfortunately, I can't post company material on this site (I need my job). But yes, we have a few trips that range between 7.5 - 8 hours per day credit. Many people don't care for them because they are turns and most of our pilots commute (as do I). I don't mind the crashpad for ~10 nights if I can sleep in my own bed for ~20.

That's what I thought. A FEW trips are worth that much.

once again, my peepee is bigger than your peepee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go where the real money is, be your own employer and make more than any airline pilot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
