Any good/bad news at the Pied?? Hiring into a pool? What are Junior Bases? How hard is it to get to MDT? Thanks...

I just did before I posted, latest I saw was 2 months old, but Thanks anyway....
I assume hiring is still for attrition?

Edit: Whoops searched again and found some more recent threads

Yea, I kind of got excited a few months back, when the bag/ritzy pen store closed...probably suckered the girl that worked there into a contract with a promise of growth...but no new equipment yet...typical airline industry...

...somewhat like PDT, I might add.

Kaudbron-

Imagine an ant. Imagine Doug Parker (the CEO of USAirways) with a magnifying glass. Somehow these things are going to come together and something's gonna die.

Any questions?

Subway....It is on the wrong side of the terminal for running water. They are having to run water and different utilities to the other side of the F concourse for subway. Fear not, it will there in 2007, maybe 2008. Piedmont pilots may never see it.
As of lately, Piedmont is having to monitor the cycles put on some of the planes. They are taking longer to get out of heavy maintenance checks than expected. Talking directly with a dispatcher, "We have cancelled flights sporatically between now and the 21st but will probably continue past that date." We run a last minute company with skeleton staffing and borderline maintenance. What do they expect when the airplanes go into maintenance with an engine practically MEL'ed?
We are gonna be shut down around XMAS. Don't finance gifts for your family cause they'll never be paid off.

One such skeleton's been sitting across from Wiskey's hangar in Philthy for the last few days. Word from the gray wagons that put oil in the Dashes every morning that is has one more cycle before D checks are due. They've been scavenging parts from it since then.

It's pretty easy to get MDT. It's probably the most junior base for FOs, which is funny because it is one of the most senior bases for FAs and CAs. You have guys that have been at PDT for 6 months holding FO lines there and guys that have been at PDT (came over from ALG) for 15 years on straight reserve as CAs there. We lose a lot of FOs in MDT to attrition. We're supposed to have 40 FOs there but we usually have around 35. Every time they build us back up to 40, about 3-5 more FOs quit.

WoW, I heard that same garbage six years ago in SBY. All the old crusties telling the new guys about how we were going to close in less than 6 months and not to sign any long term leases, get your resume's in order...yadayada...

Piedmont's still flying and the same old rumors are still going around, I see, even after all these years.

With the -100s or -300s, and supplementing or replacing Wiskey?

I respect you, Boiler- truly. But re-read that last line and wonder why I'm just a tad peeved... who is/was supplementing and replacing whom? Ah- you were going in and out of ABE, ISP, SWF, etc. when?

* Nearly fell down when I remembered the supplementation of ORF/PHF flying we're doing for Whiskey now and again... sorry, B, but I hope I misunderstood the spirit of your post.

No ill will intended, Sig!!! I was just curious if Piedmont is replacing AWAC on PIT-EWR routes, or if it was additional frequency. As much as I hate EWR I enjoy the flying we do out of PIT, and all the flights I've done on those city pairs have been full.

I know we're flying the RJ on many previous PDT routes (like at 3000' PHL-ABE with 18 pax both ways, WTF is Airways thinking?), but just curious about this particular one.

You'll never hear me bash any WO pilot, bro...

Sig needs a box of juice and a nap. Sorry, BoilerUp. That was an out of line post.

908 is sitting on the hard stand in CLT needing a C Check. Been there at least two days.

... any other Piedmonsters smell smoke 'round heah? We're so toast, toast is like, "Dang, you're toast."
