If you look closely, it says "no fee" - in other words, anyone might be able to go in there and reserve #s, free of charge. Maybe McDaniel is going to sell those reservations to XJ at some later date, who knows. Either way, you're spending too much time on your computer.

Here is my vote...yes...and it depends entirely were I sit. I am a 13 year guy at XJ and that is why I will vote yes. Am I too lazy/dumb/stupid to get another job? The flamers will say yes. But the reality is I am smart enough to know the alternative is worse if this is voted down. The "full pay to the last day, STMFD" are a VERY vocal minority. If I was a 4-7 year F.O. it would be a much harder vote. A F.O. on the bottom of the list...no brainer NO vote.

It is easy to tell others how to vote.

Yeah, but even the bottom FO's have 3-5 years invested. The lower FO's are furloughed, and, unfortunately, are not allowed to vote. It's difficult to ask someone to give up 3-5 years to go back to sh!t city as a 1 yr $19/hr FO.

I think somebody mentioned recalls stopped, sounds like they have the numbers they need. I bypassed, talked to HR and they said that about 10 had confirmed coming back and that was on NOV. 8th.

yeah i am one of those lower FO's, i am looking at the big picture and my alternatives.....get out of flying is way above going to another regional and making 19 and hour (means giving up my house-NO way!) I am also looking at the writing on the wall and NWA growth. I think they would have already given away those planes if they were going somewhere else. So, even if we just go back to where we were before the fake bankruptcy started, it will mean a higher quality of life......but still no PIC time and no chance of ever going somewhere else. But who knows, with attrition, it might happen for a 4 year FO. So my vote is yes. Even though it pisses me off, and yes i was a full pay til the last day type guy, and would have if they imposed. But with this TA, it has recovery....period......look to the future and get beyaond all this and keep your job til you can find a better one. Remember it seems that in the next two years, all airlines will be hiring except American and US Airways (America West). So in all likelyhood, a lot of us could be away from XJ management in the next 3-4 -5 years....before the next contract is up

Don't bet on it. Lowering the bar and bailing isn't a sound philosophy. Bottom line is if your willing to fly for free, you will. Obviously, Spanjier's isn't as dumb as everyone says. He aparantly knows the true stength of his pilots. Before you vote, try to remember that all these assumptions are based on estimates given to you by the same people who want your concessions. Mesaba's lack of leadership isn't going to improve with cheaper wages.

Hey Lifer, I thought I was the vocal minority. Nice to know there are others carrying on the tradition.

How could a junior pilot on the recall list, who calls in a YES I WILL COME BACK
before a senior pilot even gets to his door to pick up the letter, get to "bump" out the senior recalls?

Do they not have to wait until the end of the "5 days to decide" time?

I believe they have to accept anyone who says "yes". The majority of the 70 offered recalls are saying "no". Captains who are called back can only be called back into an open position. In the case of this recall, the open positions are FO positions. What captain would come back for that sh!t? (Any furloughed captains are voluntary). All the captain spots on the realignment have allready been filled on the award, so they are no longer open.

Just Vote Yes.
Quit trying to make Mesaba a "Good Place to work". It is a steaming pile and it will continue to be. I have fought to make this a good place to work for 6 years. I am not willing to "start over" at some other crap hole regional to prove a point. So screw it. Vote this TA in grow like a weed get some PIC time and get the hell off this smelly pile before I get to old to leave.
I am sick of standing up for the whole industry and holding up the bar, bla bla bla. No one else is. Every time I turn around some one from Great Lakes or Colgan or bottom feeder X is getting hired at SWA, FEDEX, UPS, ALK. they put in there 4 years at the regionals 3 of that in the left seat and they move on.
Flame away I really don't care
Am I selling out for a chance at some growth? Yep.
We should have given them a 10 year duration in exchange for that week of vacation back. I wont be anywhere near Mesaba in 5 when the TA expires.
Oh ya you furlough's I would wait till they announce the CRJ's on the 30th before you take the recall. At least you will have turkey day in your own home.

That is what I thought...until the recall letter arrived. I'm not the pilot in the family but I thought XJ was short on FO's and was surprised to see the Fed Ex package on the front porch Wednesday night with a letter recalling the Captain.

I stand corrected. Thank you.

Dodge is exactly right. If you were willing to stand up in 2004, why not now?

Because its XJ. They stand for nothing.

I would like to be the first to say that if they vote it in, no XJ pilot is allowed to complain on this board ever again. The moderators should not allow it. You vote it in, you live with it.

And today's Trolly Award goes to:

Keep up the good work, Karl. With your poorly thought out arguments and sweeping generalizations, you might be in the Trolly Hall of Fame soon!

But go ahead, convince yourselves that you'll be doing better by a yes vote - just don't cry when NWA outsources growth to the likes of CHQ or MESA, just to keep the eternal whipsaw going. Remember, UAL isn't happy with MESA, neither is USAIR "marriages of convenience". What happens if one of these drops them? That's right, fire sale!! And we all know that NWA loves a bargain!

You obviously weren't at XJ long enough to know how NW operates. There's no way in he!! that NW will give flying to an airline they don't control...period! Why do you think they bought out the Swenson Family when Rob started AirTran?

Do you think NW (yes...NW) wants consessions out of use so we can be a Saab operator? Even with the the cuts in the TA, were still one of the highest paid TP Pilots, and the most expensive given the average seniority. Those 36 705's are coming to XJ, there is no doubt about that!!!!

Though I'm still voting NO, and still trying to leave!

I guess what I was trying to say is they sent out 70 letters of recall, and as of the 8th Barb mentioned that she had 10 letters saying that those individuals would come back. Im sure they wait the full 5 days for everyone to respond and out of the "yes I will come back" pile the 20 most senior people would get the recall. If I have it wrong I apologize but I think thats how it would work. Just make sure you respond either way within 5 business days because Im sure this management team would love to erase your name from the seniority list.

Wow. Interesting take.

What happens if you sign a contract that is the lowest or near the lowest in the industry and the planes don't come? What happens if you vote yes and only 30 planes show up after all the A's, B's, and Avros have left? What happens if 200 planes show up, you get the PIC and FedEx never calls you for an interview and you bone the one in DAL? Now your stuck at a crap regional and you and your collegues are to blame. Noone else.

I know there are a lot of "ifs" in the afore text, but those are the same reasons I would not (sounds like you would) go to Kalitta to upgrade on a 747 in a year or two for the PIC to get a chance at FDX. Get your app in over there at YIP. They are always hiring and you'll upgrade way faster than at XJ.

You obviously weren't at XJ long enough to know how NW operates.

Maybe I wasn't there long enough to become a 5 year FO (thank God), but even a kid with a paper round can tell you that business is business. Whatever makes them the most money is all it boils down to! Period.
Do you think that Steenland has any long lasting love affair with NWA? No, he's a shark and will do whatever it takes!

There's no way in he!! that NW will give flying to an airline they don't control...period! Why do you think they bought out the Swenson Family when Rob started AirTran?

Let's wait and see.

You said it yourself - do you know any XJT guys? 1 year ago they were saying the same thing (albeit regarding 50 seaters).

Those 36 705's are coming to XJ, there is no doubt about that!!!!

I would wait until they appear on the ramp, with XJ #s before I made such a statemant.

Though I'm still voting NO, and still trying to leave!

I respect that.
