I have had my application in at Express Jet for around 4 months and never even got so much as an email saying they have my application on file. A buddy of mine with almost identical flight time/experience/ect. got a call back within 2 weeks. My application still says "Screening" as well... does that ever change?

Any logic on how they pick applicants or is it just total luck of the draw? I have my application in via Airline Apps - is there any other way to get my application in at Express Jet? Thanks.

go straight to the website fill out the online app.. your stuff got lost, no suprise! good luck there hiring 400+ next year

Hey kingair, who knows with that place, they have no logic. I applied 4 months ago too, in early July, with about 2000TT and 750 121 t-prop time, then just got an e-mail about 1 week ago from them saying I wasn't qualified enough. Opps, maybe I applied to CAL mainline by mistake....nope, no I didn't, it was XJT. oh well. They are right, some 800 hr yahoo is more qualified than me. Yep. They know what they are doing. Its okay though, I'm much happier where I am now either way.

Ya I forgot Express doesn't do Airline Apps - I had filled out the application on their website 4 months ago not on Airline Apps ....

fill it out again and get a phone number I know its out there!! call them and figure out what the hell is going on you should be in the jet by now!!

Do folks really get called within 2 weeks of applying? Someone said it would be closer to 3 months. Is there anything that might have them call you sooner, like under 2 months and are there things that might help get the call sooner. Once called, how long til you can set up the interview.

Also, are they turning down more qualified applicants in favor of low timers? Some have mentioned that they're more than qualified on paper, yet don't get the call whereas others who have slivers of ME and <1000 get hired.

Anyone have their rhyme or reason?

Amish - good friend of mine was called within about 10 days well I have waited 4 months. Another guy I casually know has 2000 hours, plus is flying the 145 for another regional but has been applying to Express for over a year and still has not heard back - not sure if there is any rhyme to it at all - maybe they simply pull random applications out of the stack because my friend who was called within 10 days had very very similiar qualifications to what I had.

I have heard from someone that works there that they go basically in order of reception for apps. Walking one in doesn't help, you have to wait your turn basically. IIRC you can't even walk one in.

You got bad info, if you know someone over here it makes a huge difference in speeding up your application / interview. Ask your buds here to forward your resume to the director of flight ops, and to follow up on it for you if you do not get a call.

BTW - I didn't know anyone. A big factor seems to be very recent multi time, like 150+ in the last 6 months, though I would agree that they seem to be pulling from lower time pilots over the 2000+ types (not always though). They want people who will be staying here for a few years, not looking for someone to train and qualify only to go to the majors in 5 or 6 months - I have no proof to back this up with, just one pilots opinion.
