The new 34L is not yet complete, but it is looking more like a runway everyday. I think they changed the name of the old 34L to 34C to avoid any confusion with the new runway. For quite a while there was a warning about not landing on the new runway area which at that time was a taxiway. Since the name change, I have not yet had to take off of 34C/16C. However, I have done it many times in the past when it was 34L/16R. I must say that I have to pay extra attention now. I can understand that we're not accustomed to listening for 34C on takeoff, and when taking off from Q just think 34R if we don't hear the word 34L.

I'm glad there was not an accident.
