Im on the market for a new headset...im sick of the DC's in the plane....they give me headaches when im wearin my shades....i know from experience that the 145 is super loud compared to the CRJ..anyone wear the Telex 750's in the 145 or is it just too loud...im also lookin at the Clarity Aloft and the new Lightspeed earbuds....any input from anyone would be appreciated...

i personally use the clarity aloft and have met a few other pilots who also use it..... Its lightweight, comfortable and quiet.

Also allows one earplug (speaker) in and one out at the same time....good for at the gate...

just get something with a quiet mic.... we have crj fos coming over to the emb and the mic's on there fancy headsets are annoyingly loud... and when the mic is so loud they forget to turn off the hot mic and it can wear on u.

Telex 5x5 sucks. The mike gain is way to loud and although it can be adjusted down generally it is not good enough. The Lightspeed Mach 5 is nice, especially with custom ear molds. The hot mike is nice and quiet.

I've been using the Lightspeed Mach 1 since the end of July. I've flown almost 300 hours with it and I'm truly sold on it. Three weeks ago I got one custom earmold (just to make sure I liked it) and have loved them even more. I've been flying with my DC's since 1993 and I just couldn't take it anymore. It's the best $500 I've ever spent in aviation.

Sidenote-order online from marvgolden.com and they don't charge you your state's sales tax. PM me if you want to know more.

I have the Telex 750's and love them. I do wear earplugs under them, but with the volume turned up, it is no problem. I find them to be much more comfortable than the DC's for a long day. Just make sure the gain is turned down. I have mine turned all the way down, and even with the hot mike open, my headset is quieter than the DC's. Plus you can probably find some good deals out there....ebay is where I got mine...brand new in the box for only $140 bucks.

Good Luck

I'll put my vote in for the Clarity Aloft. The headset's simplicity and comfort are as good as any I've used.

You feel naked the first week wearing them since they are so light and don't cover your head. They are so quiet and clear! I love them. more than my wife!

I've got better things to spend a grand on. They're overrated and built with the strength of tin foil.
eeeh.i think they are pretty strong..ive put mine through hell..only grips is that you cant use noise canceling while hooked up to a hand held radio

thats what im sayin...plus I dont have room for em in my flight case...too damn big...thats why i liked to idea of the Mach 1 or the Clarity Aloft...another question for the Mach1 and CA guys....when your using a bud that actually goes in your ear do you notice pressure problems in a steady descent or climb...even if the cabin pressure diff isnt that high?

Nothing that you can't get used to. I've noticed it wearing earmolds and the Mach 1 (getting the earmolds for the Mach 1, soon). If it gets to be too much, pull an earbud out for a sec, clear your ears, then put it back in. I fly the 145 and it isn't much of a problem.
