Take RJ job or Upgrade

What would be better , a job at RAH flying the CRJ. or upgrading within the next 6 months (135/Turboprop SA-227)

Trying to help a friend decide

No doubt...PIC is king

Shiny Jet! Shiny Jet! Shiny Jet! Glass Cockpit! Flight Attendant! Cool-looking uniform! Shiny Jet! Shiny Jet! Shiny Jet!

:D

Take the Metro upgrade and run with it. RJ jobs are dime a dozen.

Dude, take the jet! What does upgrade mean?

You, er, "your friend", should upgrade on the Metro. Moving to an RJ is big step back and will entail a good number of years in the right seat logging a bunch of turbine non-PIC time that won't impress many interviewers.

I'm no HR person but PIC time in a single pilot plane whether it's turbine or not seems counterintuitive. There is no way an airline will turn down an RJ CA over a Metro pilot with similar hours. Just a thought..

Ah, but therein lies the problem. Starting logging turbine PIC time very soon or log RJ SIC hours for a long while.

I'm guessing the airline you mention in your hypothetical situation is more likely to hire the Metro CA over the RJ FO. And that's assuming that the person we are all talking about even wants to stay in the 121 realm.

Thanks for all the responses. I know that TPIC is money in the bank but I just wanted my friend to see different opinions. Once again thank you all!!

As with all decisions, it depends on what your career and life goals are.
