So WHY must I pay dues if the state law makes it illegal to force me to pay them?

Because it was a negotiated item that all pilots, since the last agreement, will participate. If you don't like it you shouldn't have come to ASA.

Seems to me, since it is illegal in GA to force someone to pay dues, that I should sue and win this one. I think I will...

Whatever man.

So I see why we have to pay. It is because the Railway Labor Act is not subject to the Right to Work laws. That wasn't so hard, was it?

You brought it up....sorry you didn't get the response you want.

You brought it up....sorry you didn't get the response you want.

The response I wanted was someone knowledgeable who knew the reason. Apparently that was too much to ask.

As far as being "That" guy, if you mean the guy who can think independently and not follow the mob rule, then yes, I'm that guy.

Actually, it has already been done. The Delta pilots brought a suit against ALPA (Miller v. ALPA). They did not win, but ALPA settled with them.

Under Georgia Law even a non-union worker under a collective bargaining agreement has to pay for the union's effort to negotiate and enforce your contract. You do not have to pay for union overhead not related to their part of the bargaining agreement that you enjoy the benefit of.

I think by "that guy"...he meant the moron that asks a stupid rhetorrical question.

I wish someone would take this to the supreme court. Maybe we can destroy unions once for all. Alpa is destroying ASA

Isn't CAL Alpa? They are responsible for the life you have now. You are a true idiot. You hate alpa so much, you went to another alpa carrier.

Quit talking.

No, mismanagement and idiots like you are destroying ASA. Thankfully now that you are gone there is 1 less idiot like you trying to screw things up.

actually, Georgia law does not applly. Even though Delta's headquarters are in GA, Delta is incorporated in Delaware. Don't know about ASA.

Actually your not paying dues. You're paying a fee for service of the contract. Not the union overhead.

If your unhappy with the union at ASA, there is an airline that is non-union that is hiring. But you will start out at the bottom, new hire pay and in the right seat.

Good luck with your job search.

Why is it that you complain about ALPA at ASA but you will not stand up at CAL? Thats right no balls no glory.

That is because he is on probation....or he doesn't even work at CAL.

Ooh careful there Superturd! Your union brothers at Continental (so you say) might find out who you are! Why aren't you over on the major board whining you whining loser!

CAL is ALPA, but I don't belive PooperSkooper is CAL. When he claimed to be ASA he always spoke of ASA as from the outside. He's a fraud.

I guess for the same reason we don't have to have scheduled meals and breaks, even though everyone else does.

ALPA at CAL is different. I wish Alpa at cal had more pull to try and get all our flying back from Xjt and soon to be CHQ.

REgionals have no business being part of alpa. Regionals can't do the "We're going to draw the line in the sand" because airlines like Skywest. MEsa, and CHQ will always try and get the flying.

Hey Superwhiner, just go away willya! Man, a dude gets on with a major and he comes back to the regional board to whine. Do your whining on the major boy now that you're at CAL, if you truly are you creep.

No business being part of ALPA? WTF do you even know about ALPA. Just watch ASA draw the line creep. It may cost us our jobs but at least we would have stopped the race to the bottom, or tried to.

Hey genius you're not fighting the Germans at Normandy. You don't get a cookie or a medal of honor if you "draw the line" all you will get is an unemployment check.

If you "draw the line" you're flying and planes will be reduced, delta doesn't care neither do their pilots you will be out on the street and will probably end up going to mesa, skywest, or chq. That just the way it is.

You fly for a regional you are a Regional/commuter pilot. Leave the "drawing a line in the sand" to the big boys who can’t have their flying given to another airline.

Why don't you people understand that. Look at comair and ect. you'll never get to a major if you keep hop scotching around to other regionals.

Listen SuperKooter, the big boys don't mean squat to us who have been at the regionals for awhile, some of us up to 25 years. Why are you so concerned with the regionals now that you're supposedly at CAL? Did it ever occur to you that there are many who are content at the regional level, and have no plans or desires to go to a major just like you boy? The big boys don't have quite the balls you think they do, but we at the regionals do. Did it ever occur to you that if the regionals go further to the bottom that will also bring down major wages too? Don't get it do you ?

Ok, Mods. Seriously, I think it's time to ban SuperKooter. He doesn't add anything productive to the discussions, and now that he's "moved on to the big boys", seems to get off on kicking sand in the faces of his former coworkers. Please ban him.
