JetBlue selling (5) more planes

JetBlue sells planes to Germany's Blue Wings

Fri Oct 6, 2006 11:53am NEW YORK, Oct 6 (Reuters) - German charter carrier Blue Wings AG bought five Airbus A320 aircraft from discount U.S. airline JetBlue Airways Corp. which was selling the planes to cut costs, Blue Wings spokesman Frank Lorentz said on Friday.

JetBlue spokeswoman Jenny Dervin said all the planes would be on their way to their new owner by mid-November.
Representatives of the airlines declined to comment on financial details of the deal.
In July, JetBlue said it expected a gain of about $6 million from the sale of the planes in the third quarter. New York-based JetBlue is selling the planes to cut capacity as part of a turnaround plan.

Blue Wings, a three-year-old carrier based in Duesseldorf, plans to start scheduled service next year. This summer, it ordered 20 Airbus A320 planes for $1.4 billion.

These are the 5 jb said they were selling long ago. No extras ... yet.

If you think a 100-seat aircaft is an "RJ" what do you all a DC-9-10 or 737-200?

Word on the street is JB MGMt rues the day selling these airframes as its charter business has been much stronger than anticipated. On another note, BW online reports that CAL hedged 33% of its 3rd quarter fuel at $73.18 and 27% of its 4th quarter at $75.20. NWA bought 25% of its 2nd half 2006 fuel between $65 and $79.40 and not to be outdone, US Air hedged 44% of its 3rd quarter at $71.39. SWA locked in 73% of its second half burn at $36. I wonder if the mgmt teams at CAL-NWA-US Air will take pay concessions for such an egregious mistake. Hahaha, that's funny......fuel closed at $59 and change today......

Has anyone else seen that proposal that Neeleman is working on to make jetfuel from coal?? He was on MSNBC and CNN within the last month talking about a plan to build some plants that can turn coal into diesel and jetfuel at a cost of about $30bbl. JetBlue could be the first airline to actually make its own jetfuel and not be subject to crude oil prices. He said if they had those plants up and running JetBlue would have made something like 600 million last year instead of losing money. If he actually pulls this plan off, he will be the smartest man the US has seen in a century.

Right.....and I'm working on a plan to transform water to jet fuel.

I read about this in UsaToday. They said it was around $60 per barrel. Hopefully the drop in prices will not cause people to put off the search for something new.

Seating capacity does not make it an RJ. The payrates do.

So I guess they should call them "low pay rate jets" instead of "regional Jets".

"Ladies and gentleman, welcome aboard (whatever) express, airlink, connection", non-stop low pay rate jet service to crappy city. Flight time will be.........."

Gary Kelly at WN stated today that he expects oil to snap back and these numbers won't last. I wonder if Gary is putting his money where his mouth is and buying more heating oil hedges for the future. He is considered the guru on these matters and it makes me wonder why he is spouting his prophacy on future oil prices to the media. My guess is he's hoping to sucker some of the other carriers into loading up on hedges while they still can. Time will tell if this is an election year ploy or the actual world economy.

:pimp:

OH LOWLY ONE, Gary Kelly "SPOUTING OFF" ??? Have you read what you type on here??? When is it again that our stock would be around 8 dollars?? You ma'am are the "SPOUTTER" around here but we still like ya. Keep the Sh*t coming, we all need someone to laugh at; makes us feel better about ourselves, ya know??

Lowecur's insurance agent
doesn't trust himself so he buys it from me.

Yes, that is funny, but are they selling planes?

Why... yes they have ...

NWA and AAA have parked/sold a significant part of their fleet.

CAL had some widebodies parked for a while..

Your point?

Oh No...first it was pilots cleaning a cabin before a flight. Now it's shoveling coal...where will the downward spiral end. The sky is falling, the sky is falling...

I hope you see the sarcasm towards the Jetblue haters....

I listened to the interview with Glenn Beck and read the documents that were on his website about it. I think it would be a GREAT idea. That's not the koolaid talking either. My biggest reason is that I would love for this country to be completely energy-independent so we could tell Iran, Venezuela and the others to take their oil and shove it.

Suppposedly there are more BTU's of usable energy in the coal in this country than there are in the oil of all OPEC nations combined. I'm not an expert on this matter by any means but that sounds pretty good to me. The technology to convert the coal has been around since WWII and is proven.
