Mesaba FO Payscale: (Pre - Bankruptcy , and post for now)

Year 1 - 23.50/hour
Year 2 - 28/hour
Year 3 - 31/hour
-This was to fly the Saab and Avro (69 seats)

RAH:
Year 1 - 22.08/hour
Year 2 - 30/hour
Year 3 - 35/hour (All FO seats up to 72)

I've worked in both places and there is good and bad at both. No one ever seemed to rag XJ for a horrible FO pay scale. I'll sacrifice a dollar and hour to live where I want - I guess that makes me the plague of the industry. Regional FO pay is horrible everywhere! The work rules here at RAH have never seemed to me worse than at Mesaba.

None of these "internet tough-guys" around here, will have any say or pull on my career. After getting furloughed and kicked to the street at XJ, I'm going to do what is best for myself and my family...not what some "regional martyr" thinks is best for the industry, his company or himself. If he really wants to make a change...get involved with union instead of spouting off on FI. Rant over.

Wow this has suddenly become a furloughed XJ'er meeting thread. Wazzup my peeps. I'm officially hijacking this thread to find out where you all cast off to. 5ontheglide we know you are at RAH, as am I. wmudriver where you at man?

Did you forget that I fly a 50 seater and you fly a 70 seater at cheaper rates? Do pilots at the majors fly 777's at 737's rates? As for the 4 hour legs, I actually like them. You fly one leg a day and your done. I also live in Chicago and have the option to apply with CHQ and try to be based at ORD. If I had shiny jet syndrome I'd be applying with CHQ.

Taken a look at what a widebody Captain at US Airways compared to a Southwest Capt?

I agree with 5ontheglide. I too was furloughed at XJ and am now at RAH. Work rules are pretty much the same. I get a dollar less my first year, but the following years pay better. Where else are all of us going to go at this point? Which other regional seems like a "safe" place to go that isn't flying something for another company, or who hasn't won flying that another company would have liked.... and is yet at the same time growing and becoming a promising place to work? Those of us that have been furloughed are not willing to take the risk again right now!

Agreed. That's why there are also many Independence guys at RAH. Many were lucky enough to have thousands of PIC hours and are now at bigger and better places but many, inculding myself, did not and are now at RAH. It's a stable place to be at for now. We are all just trying to put food on the table while staying current in the industry. That's what many people fail to realize. All of the regionals are garbage. You just try to choose the one that has the most potential, learn from prior events, and hope to move on in the future.

While I admit that your posts are a bit condescending and irritating, and perhaps you feel the same about mine, they don't bother me so much that I would take the time to create a whole new thread about it. But hey...whatever works.

You are a Jack-hole. You attack my company and pilots without thought or fact. CAL took 69 planes off line. Not my fault, not RAH's fault. If we didn't win the bid, someone else would have. Be mad a CAL and take cheapshots at them. You and Superpilot sit around the crashpad on reserve and slap around baseless accusations and subjective comparisions. Much like Fox News, they are great for working people into a frenzy and causing arguments, but lack substance or fact. Sing the praises of your company all you want, just quit the cheapshots

Guys I am leaving the regional industry for greener pastures. I just got the call that I was picked up by McDonalds to be the lead French Frier. I will miss the flying, but at least I will be able to get sleep in my cardboard box everynight.

Your message lacks substance or factin the regards that I havent thrown any stones or cheapshots at CHQ. You keep attacking me for some reason even though i do not talk bad about your company. I think its just because i dont have the same views as you that you keep bad mouthing me. Which is pretty lame. I have on occasion poked a stick at you however and i hope i didnt hurt your feelings, but i have no bad feelings to CHQ pilots. I hope that someday we can all work as 1 pilot group to better our industry instead of bickering back and forth. Last I checked we do have something in common you know, we are both pilots and we both want to make a good living right? Have a good one.

(The blue juice buddy thing is one of those sticks i was talking about, in no way is that to offend you or anyone associated with CHQ it is just a joke towards your avatar) :p

Apologies. I did my research and you are not a transgressor. I think just your proximity to SkyBitch made my eyes fuzzy. If you reach across the crashpad and slap some sense into him, I'll buy on my next IAH funfest....

Last I checked french friers start at about the same pay as express jet First Officers. A job posting at the local Mcdonals said 9 or 10 dollars an hour (I forget which one). Assuming 8 hours a day 5 days a week that would be about 20,800 a year. With promotions and managment positions you could make a lot more.
