Trying to get a quick snapshot on who is hiring, recalling and furloughing..

The only Hiring I know of is

FedEx
UPS
SWA
B6
AirTran (?)
Pretty much all the regionals (?)

Recalling
Delta
United (expected to be through the list by end of Dec.)
USAir
NWA

Anyone else?

You forgot Continental, and as far as the regionals go, I believe Mesaba is definately not hiring.

United (expected to be through the list by end of Dec.)

The last projection that I read was February (I'll assume that's for April/May class dates). They're recalling for the 4 Dec class right now, and I think that they've still got another 300 or so to burn through. Even with a 44% bypass rate and 15% mil leave rate, you're still talking another 120 or so that should be coming back by the time it hits the bottom of the list.

Once Delta starts hiring next year, what is the outlook for new-hires as far as base, equipment, reserve time, etc.

And yes, before some clever person takes a shot at DAL, I know that upgrade times are going to be long.

I forgot about CO, sorry. I know the policy at UAL for bypass what is it for DAL and NWA. Isn't DAL 10years or something. I have no clue about NWA.

Junior equipment is the MD-88. probably expect NYC or even ATL.

Upgrades?? Who knows.

Anyone know if IAD A320 slots are being filled at United?

There were no 320s on the last vacancy bid. I think that the last recall class had some 320s, going to ORD and IAD.
The one aircraft that's being avoided by recallees is the 737. There are people who are taking bypasses and waiting for 320 slots, so the 320 is going to recalled furloughees, just higher up on the foodchain. Furloughees can come back any time after they've bypassed, as long as there's a class.

The best way to describe the fleet/seat situation for recalls is that it's very fluid right now. Things are moving very quickly through the recall list.

Airbus = easy, nice, roomy, automated, roomy.

Curious to see when they start taking apps.

UAL 737's going to be phased out in the not to distant future. Friend of mine took the 737 for bumping rights and better seniority.

As for NWA - Should get through list by Feb of 07. Then we'll see what REALLY is going to happen.

Baja.

Hawaiian recalled the first 22 of 98 furloughees earlier this year, plus 4 more coming back in December. If there isn't any growth, it could take another 4+ years to bring the rest back. If we get a few more planes, we could be hiring next year. It all depends on growth.

Why the question mark after AirTran?

We're hiring 105 through the end of 2006, and with 15 airplanes being delivered in 2007, I would guess we will need well over 230 newhires for 2007 to cover deliveries, retirements, and those leaving for greener pastures/returning to greener pastures.

Keep that hiring going at AirTran, I need people below me. :)

Being near the bottom of the list is something I haven't had to deal with in many years until now, but so far it's been relatively painless.

I think there was 35 unfilled DCA 320's on the Sept. bid. The recall classes are split usually 15 737's and 15 A320's. For the Oct. recall all of the 320's were to IAD. There have been some unfilled 767 bids so now the senior furloughed guys can grab one of those as well. I think that all of the 767's have been to LAX.
