NEW YORK, Sept 29 (Reuters) - UAL Corp. parent company of United Airlines, on Friday said its board of directors extended the contract of Chief Executive Glenn Tilton four years to September 2011.

The board also approved a four-year extension for Pete McDonald, United's chief operating officer.

Looks like the merger will be in 2011 then?

No. What this means is he just ensured he will get a 747-load of cash in the 'likely' event of a merger / acquisition. They will have to buy him out.

Another round of mergers and acquisitions are coming, folks. And that always means layoffs.

My guess? United and Delta. Northwest holds the key to any move Continental makes, and Northwest ain't gonna let United / Continental happen.

Exactly.

This is why he's banging the merger gong. It makes no sense for anyone except Tilton, his Wall Street pals, and the lawyers. They can all go to hell...greedy scum.

What about the overpaid UAL pilots? Guess this is payback for the the Industry Leading payrates back in 2000-01 and the Summer of Cancellations.
What goes around comes around.

Let's do a quick search of your posts:

Boo hoo.

Get over your sense of entitlement, get a non-union management position and watch the big bucks flow in.

Managing a legacy carrier is more complex than calling out V1-- Positive Rate and Flaps 30 -- Gear Down.

Now go do the walkaround.

I think it's safe to say that you're a pathetic human being that has no idea what it takes to be a professional pilot.

I think you are lost. This is the majors section. The flight section is another thread. Please move along, your 9:00 am dual cross country student just arrived, and you'll need plenty of time to start your pre-flight planning.

Breathe of fresh air to see that Accinelli is attacking the pilots today and not the flight attendants. You really need to get over this anger problem Acc.

Its spelt "breath of fresh air." But then again I wouldn't expect much more from a vending machine.

Does this mean he'll get more money? I'm really happy for him and Pete McDonald.

Still incorrect in the context you used it in. You're fit to be a flight attendant -- your age is probably higher than your IQ.

No, I'm pretty sure zonker is right on this one. By the way, it's spelled "spelled." Good job.

Correct on that one booker. Way to go.
