Franklin was awesome. Anyone remember his Aerostar act?
I saw that aerostar act in FL back in the 80's I always wondered what happened to the show. I had no idea that was the guy. that was a cool act the all black aerostar and the black cape and all... pretty cool

Hoover flying the Sabre was great. He was so smooth. I remember seeing JF in the Aerostar way back when. That was a cool routine he had put together in that hotrod.

Sometime in the last 10 years I saw (1 time only at Oshkosh) a guy do a full, Hoover-esque routine in an old 55 Baron. Does anyone remember this? He was doing single engine rolls, etc. I think he may have flown some aerial stuff for tv & movies.

I attended ICAS the year Franklin rolled out his jet-powered Waco. What a show he put on with that thing. He was "old school" and a good guy...as most West Texans are. His dad was killed in a plane crash too. Very sad.

I've seen that jet powered Waco routine. The first time I saw it I couldn't stop laughing. It was like watching an airshow in fast forward.

That would be awsome! For some reason we had a Lr.24 and a 28 (yea, a 28) come through the airport yesterday and they both sounded so cool.

You gotta love it! Especially when its cold out and those spooled up CJ-610s make that beautiful crackle sound. Music to my ears.

I don't mean to talk trash at all....I had nothing but respect for Jimmy Franklin, Bobby Youngkin and all....They were some of the greats that will never be rivaled. But I saw the Masters of Disaster thing at Sussex airshow and quite frankly, it was not a good idea. Those guys would come zipping through the smoke from that truck...it was IMC Aerobatics. There were a few times when they popped out of the smoke you could see last minute adjustments right before they passed. Nothing against their skills, they were awesome pilots....but they were also partially blind in that smoke. It was a tense show, I didn't want to see anyone get killed that day. I know that these guys like Sean Tucker and Jim Leroy push it to make people think that they are crazy and minutes from crashing when they are fully in control of the situation.....I think these guys pushed it just a little too far with the smoke.

I miss Jimmy Franklin, I loved his act and he was such a nice guy.

Yeh, I saw them do the show a few years back in Oshkosh..

First words out of my dad's mouth... "Those guys are gonna die doing that..."

I loved both of their acts... but they were living on the edge with the Masters of Diaster show..
