Zantop to shut down

End of the road for the Zipper, they announced they will cease operations as of Saturday 4-30. I will miss hearing the whine of the Allison D-501's in the middle of the night outside my bedroom window. The Electra's were out in the pattern bouncing lst week doing check rides. It will be strange not to see the Electra's runing around YIP>

I miss, while in A/P school after class. drinking beer watching all those electra's lining up at night getting ready to take off and the sounds of all allison d-501's humming away was sweet Ill miss zantop also

I thought they shutdown years ago?

No they downsized in 1997 laid 150 of us off, and then kinda started up again with a new union contract that paid an Electra Captain about the same as DA-20 Captain. I here they shut down because they ran out of propellers.

Really sorry to see another storied freighter like Zantop bite the dust.

I was a just an up and coming ( or was that down and out ? ) aviator, when one of their L-188's went down in western PA, with pieces of the A/C landing in my best friends back yard.
