My company (pt91) was up to around 300 hrs. a year when we had a King Air. Sold it and bought a Hawker. Has been going down at a steady pace to the point that we will come in around 100 hours this year. Has become the personal ride of the owner. Company managers refuse to ask for it anymore since they got chewed out for using it last year. Plane has not flown in a month now. I am in my mid 50's age wise. Money low 60"s as F/O. Owner likes it nad so far has not said anything about getting rid of it. Looking at the regionals. What do you guys think? Stay or go? Thanks for any advice.

How about another Hawker job? King Air? You have more than enough time to get on with a quality charter-management or Part 91 company. What about the fractionals? With +4000hrs, how about shooting Continental, JetBlue, UPS and Allegiant a resume?

IMO, I would leave your current job. You aren't doing yourself any favors by only flying 100hrs/yr. Although that amount of flying sounds like a pretty sweet post-retirement job.

Are you still getting paid? If so, stop worrying about your job and enjoy a life most pilots would kill for. Besides, if the jet does go away, you're more than qualified to find employment. I believe all pilots have a back up plan, so enjoy you're time off.

Get out of there - as stated, find a nearby Hawker job if possible or apply to the fractionals like Netjets - plenty of Hawkers and many retired airline pilots working there.

I guess the biggest question is what are you looking to do with your career? The regionals will fly you a lot - no questions there. You won't make much, and you'll be on the older end of the scale in a new hire class. I'd stay put and see if I can do some contract work on the side...but that's just me.

I would avoid the regionals at all costs at your age and experience level. I don't mean to sound trite, but it is a young man's job. Lots of BS to contend with. They are great for getting experience and making connections. Otherwise, there are plenty of other opportunities out there I would pursue, i.e. frax, charter, corporate, etc. I would also think long and hard before I left your current gig. I have known of those types of situations lasting for years.

Good luck to you,
CB
