I know that this is like asking what is better; getting bitten by shark or an Alligator.

But which is a better airline to work for Express Jet or Eagle

Thanks

Depends where you want to live. Otherwise, they are about the same. I don't think that anyone that gets hired right now at either Eagle or XJT will make Captain any sooner. The movement at XJT is better right now, but that won't last forever. First year pay is better at Eagle, but XJT will hopefully have a new contract soon. So, I guess if you have offers from both, just flip a coin and you'll have your answer.

No offense, but how many times must this question be asked (with different airlines involved)? No one can answer this question for you. Please do some research on both airlines, and come to a conclusion on your own. There is a lot of information on this board. I know most people just want info handed to them. When you do get on with an airline, it's the same concept. If you have a question about an aircraft limitation, FAR, company procedure, etc...before you ask someone, try hard to look up your question first, then ask. Ok, sorry if I came across too harsh. Good luck on your research.

I think that is a good question. If you want to live in IAH, EWR, LA (maybe eventually)or CLE---then apply to COEX. If you want to live in SJU, ORD, DFW, NYC, MIA, BOS, or LA---then apply to Eagle. If you want to avoid props---apply to COEX. If you want to fly a lot to Mexico--apply to COEX. If you want to fly in the Carribean--apply to Eagle. COEX's upgrade time may be a little quicker, but who knows?

Um last I heard its about 12yrs to hold CA on the EMB at Eagle where at Express its about 4 now.

Actually it is 6 1/2 years to jet captain at eagle. But once the flow back stops that will go down and as soon as AA starts recalling that will open up around 200 captain vacancies in a very short time which the new jets should still be coming so Jet Captain should fall around 2 to 3 years. Unless of course they find some other way to screw over the Eagle pilots. Which is a good possibility.

If AA keeps furloughing(sp),And AE stops getting new RJ's (which will happen next year)Upgrades will stop indefinetly...However, one of these days when AA recalls I wouldnt be surprised of 2 yrs to upgrade.

I think it would be foolish to choose an airline based on upgrade times. If you do that, you'll be jumping around airlines from year to year since it always changes depending on way too many factors that anyone here can predict. Instead, make the decision based on company culture. How well does the company treat its employees? How are the work rules? Could you stand living at all the domiciles (since often you won't have much a choice where you are based at first), or will you commute? If you are going to commute, which carrier offers better commuting options?

Try to find a company which you'll be happy at for the next ten years. Because you could be there for that long, if not more.

Colgans upgrade is around a year right now. It may get even lower. Saab and 1900. Within the past year we have probably had between 75-100 people quit. It sure is hard to predict these things!
