I heard today from an internal source that XJT has lowered their minimums to 800 and 100. Anyone else hear this news?

Sounds unlikely. I guess it's possible, but why would they NEED to lower their mins? I doubt they have any shortage of applicants that meet the current mins.

Hmmmm.....

Is it possible that its cheaper to keep a pilot for limited number of years. Let’s say, after 5 years it’s cheaper to train a new pilot than it is to pay the salary of a 5th year pilot? So maybe they count on the place being tolerable for a limited period of time, and treat pilots accordingly.

Would the accident rate actually go up if XJT just hired private pilots, put them through six months of "intense" airline pilot training and stuck them in a regional jet that’s relatively easy to fly?

But wait, ALPA will keep all that from happening right? It didn’t happen already right?

And if you stick it out then you could be a “Major” airline pilot, making upwards of 75K a year and only traveling 3 weeks out of the month.

But wait, ALPA will keep all that from happening right? It didn’t happen already right?

So yes, rather than raise the pay above the 17,500.00 a year mark, they will lower the minimums all the way down to:

1)Found your way to the interview

2)Will work for 17,500.00 a year

So yes, there is a sporting chance 800/100 will do it. Send in your resumes morons.

But we have shiny new jets! :( Surely everyone wants to fly them! It's such a romantic job. Staying in exotic (infested) hotels drinking wine (Boons Farm) by the fire (ash tray) with interesting (uneducated) women (F/A's, many not quite women but extremely feminine).

Who in their right mind wouldn't be chomping at the bit to enjoy this priviledge WHILE being compensated minimum wage? Not to mention, a mere 10 year upgrade would make them competitive for a REAL job before they're ENTIRELY gray haired.

Perhaps they're just not aware of our comprehensive benefit package and excellent work rules! :/

I was at the OBAP convention yesterday, the printed info sheets stated 800 and 1.
Well, I guess there starting tyo look at it like this.. We got 90 new capt positions on the latest perm bid. Plus Cont'l mailine just announced the recall of 240 pilots by spring of this next year ie...March '05. Of those 240, 200 plus will come right off the top and from the middle of the xjt seniority list. So thats a losss in the next six months of 200 or so, plus another 90 needed to fill new positions. So around 300 are needed in the next 6 months to a year. So it is definitely possible. And in the spring another perm bid will likely show more growth at xjt. That is if we are not underbid by another company...

hi guys

TRUST ME, if you dont have a flying job they will not hire you. I have a friend who interviews had over 2000 hours over 500 turbine had 60 hours in the last month but did not have a CURRENT flying job, they did not hire him.

and hbrow15 you dont need to have a US passport, you can have a greencard, i know a handful of guys at expressjet who are employed as FO who dont have USPassports

I got sent home at the end of the company presentation since I had 32.5 hrs of actual. Thanks to this stretch of sh!!ty weather in the northeast over the last couple of weeks, I now have 37.2 hrs. Dawn told me that they require 37, since it's half of what's needed for an ATP. (Yeah, I know, 37.5 is half, rounded to 38... but Dawn said 37, sooooo....). I'm going to e-mail her to see about re-applying.
