Does XJT allow any 135 jumpseaters? I just spoke with CommutAirdispatch and they said it was up to captain, wasn't sure if XJT hadsame type of agreement?

Thanks

We have many FAR Part 135 carriers on our approved jumpseat list. (Cape Air, Chalks, Era, Nantucket Airlines, Pacific Airways) I also thought AirNet used to be on our list, but I noticed they are not there anymore. I'm not sure why. Our FOM says if you are a 121 carrier, and not on the list you can still jumpseat, but it makes no mention of exceptions for 135. So technically you have to be on the list.

I have heard of EPP's, but unfortunatly your company is not on the list. Does your company offer rides to offline jumpseaters? If so, do you have a route structure that may be beneficial to our pilots? I am not sure how exactly to add a company to our approved list, but I can point you to the people that do.

I work for Airnet out of TEB. I have been jumpseating on XJT back and forth between EWR and CMH. The last few times, nobody has even been able to find a current agreement list. I usually get a pass through security from the Continental ticket counter, get to the gate and wait for the Captain/flight crew. Everybody at XJT has been absolutely fantastic about it. Everybody has been extremely professional. Even yesterday out of Newark, the captain called the chief pilot and he said it was OK. I don't know why there isn't an agreement between Airnet and XJT. Have a backup plan, as they will not always be receptive. It is always up to the captain (even when there is an agreement). Usually someone makes a phone call and I am allowed on. I will never take this for granted and will always remember everything everyone at XJT does for me when I am allowed to jumpseat. I am and will be eternally greatful everytime I get a seat. Always be as discreet as possible as to not let pax overhear the conversation. Thanks XJT.

I fly for Epps (check-hauler) and was trying to get from CLE to RUT Vermont.

IF you get on board, XJT can get you as far as BTV, ALB or MHT. You're going to have to drive or find another ride to RUT. I just want to make sure you know XJT doesn't fly there.

Airnet is should not be jumpseating on Express Jet. Sorry about this however Airnet, as of right now, cannot reciprocate. How is it fair that if you show up for the last seat on the a/c before a comair pilot, and it ends up bumping the comair guy? By doing this you stand to decrease the chances that Airnet will ever secure and agreement with Express Jet.

And just to clarify, it is NOT always up to the captain. By doing this you are putting the captains job at risk. The FOM is very clear about who may and may not jumpseat. I know most feds won't care but when a captain accepts you he is violating the FOM. And a chief pilot may not approve this either. The only one that may approve a jumpseat pass for someone not on the list is the SR. DIR of Flight Ops or above.

I wish I had better news for you however these are the rules and by violating them we risk all of our abilities to jumpseat.

135 Carriers must be specifically approved and on out List. If you guys are able to reciprocate and take our pilots I'd be willing to discuss this with someone from your company. Until then you shouldn't be trying to jumpseat on Express Jet. Sorry.

It was never my intent to get anyone in trouble, I was only trying to get home. I have always been approved after someone has made a phone call. Also, I was never on a flight more than 2/3 full.

Instigator I know we can take anybody with proper credentials. I wouldlike to set something up with our jumpseatcordinator. We have a coupleagreements out there already. If you could send me a message back wecan set something up and I can get this going.

Thanks

Mckpickle is the man to deal with. Good luck, I hope something can get worked out for all of us.

Hey steve two things to thinkabout

1. "I might have known some one who has used Airnet to snag a ride." Maybe you could look into setting that up.

2. If the

Why do we take FedEX and UPS when they are still working out their security concerns... meaning we can not get a ride on them because they have no way to screan us or verify who we are. (this may have changed but as far as I know it has not). If an airnet guy can't get a ride why should the heavy fright dogs? This is a managment snafu not my challenge or justifcation to say no to another pilot. If a chief says yes that's good enough for me.

Ben,

Good point about FedEx and UPS.

I know that I get a little nervous whenever I give a seat in the back to someone who obviously isn't on our list. However, I can't say that I always have the time to check the list. Jumpseaters are usually the last to arrive and we are usually is a hurry to get the plane off the gate. I figure if they got past security and through the gate agent then I really don't have a problem with it.

That said, it does piss me off a bit that someone who obviously knows they are not approved to jumpseat on us (or any other airline for that matter) has the nerve to ask me to put my job on the line so they can get a free ride. Like Steve said, take it through channels, it will more than likely get approved and we can all rest easier.

The FEDEX and UPS thing is due to the fact that they did offer us rides for many years. UPS is again offering rides via the CASS system. Which we will be able to take advantage of very soon. Hopefully FEDEX will follow.

Now in regards to FEDEX/UPS vs Airnet, we'd like to see a bennefit to our pilots. Many many people will use FEDEX/UPS. Not too many will use Airnet to justify the trouble in securing employment verifacation. Thats the real sticking point is the company (and rightly so in my opinion) does not feel it is should be responsible for fielding phone calls from other carriers at o'dark thiry verifying the pilots employment. I have spoken with the Airnet JS guy and they are trying to get something set up so that employment verification is easier on us. When I see his proposal I will bring it to the company for approval.

Thats pretty much the nuts and bolts of it. Hope the explanation of the process helps.

Fedex gives us a huge discount on shipping costs. I think they are "reciprocating" as much as they legally can right now. And if you ever jumpseated on UPS or FEDEX before 9-11, you would understand why we still take them now.

I'm sure if you every needed to ship blood, human feces, or urine, we could give you a heck of a discount! All kidding aside, it's not like we don't want to reciprocate at Airnet. I'm sure most people would bend over backwards to help out our brethren, after all we are all pilots aren't we? I hope something is eventually worked out. If you ever approach me asking for a ride, I would do everything within my power to help you out. Thanks.

I personally am all for reciprocating with Airnet. When the last flight home leaves full without you, it would be nice to have the Airnet option available so you can get home on that Saturday night to go to church with your family in the morning.
