Got a friend doing both interviews and wanted a realistic guess of upgrade times. Also Jr. base/equipment for Eagle, I hear EWR is Jr. for XJT. How many days off on reserve and how long would you be on reserve would also be helpful info. Thanks for the help.

XJT
11 days off on reserve (contract 97), working on a new one that will probably have 12 days off.
Time on reserve depends upon how fast the flow backs go back to CAL and how many new planes we take delivery of. The people that were in the first few classes of 2004 are already holding lines in IAH and EWR (not sure about CLE) My guess is they spent 4-6 months on reserve. If you get hired tomorrow.......I have no idea how long you will sit reserve.

Go to Eagle and try to get the ATR in San Juan. Think about all of the J-LO wannabees with total attitude.....Sounds like Heaven to me......And you never have to shower to fit in down there---just keep applying cologne. Cake it on! You can really be the "Aqua Velva Man!"

That would be fine with me. Now I am gonna just have to commute there on my days off and see if I can track down one of those J-LOs, you sold me on the idea. My buddy is married though, don't know if the wife would go for that one.

COEX, any idea what the upgrade time is running your way?

When I was hired in 2000 the upgrade times were 9-12 months on the props and 1.5 years on the jet. Now 4 years later I can hold capt in EWR but would probably not be trained until the spring. So that would make it 4.5-5 years for someone hired 4 years ago. What would it be for a brand new newhire? Your guess is as good as mine. 4-10 years..........anything in between?

Typical ignorant gringo response.......

Is it ignorant, or DEAD ON ACCURATE? The people in San Juan have the same New Yawk Attitude, but there are palm trees and it is balmy. I didn't like it at all.......On my layovers there, I was told to stay on the hotel grounds or risk getting mugged. What kind of a paradise is that?? Enjoy your day Paco.
