former x-jetter here....i have a bud at eagle thats been there over a year and a half. saab f/o in training on the erj..got the call to update his stuff at xjet.

what do you guys think of leaving eagle for expressjet? really interested in guys at both carriers voicing opinions, good and bad... thanks!

When i was in training at XJT, there was another person who had just left Eagle for XJT. He was flying the ERJ at Eagle. He didn't have too many nice things to say about Eagle and just loves it at XJT. I'm sure you'll get people who probably really want to stay at Eagle and others that totally hate it. I might be being alittle biased here, but I work for XJT and never worked for Eagle and from what I've heard, I would probably not want to be working for Eagle.

I wouldn't come to XJT based upon faster upgrade times. We currently have staffing for the 252 jets on property. We are only going to staff for 260 jets because they will always have at least 14 in heavy MX or spares inventory. Movement has been good the last 18 months, it will slow down very quickly around September. They are planning on training 140 more new hires through September. Most of those have already been hired. That will staff the airline for ALL 260 jets. They then plan on hiring only 8 newhires per month to account for attrition and retirements. The only variable in this equation is how fast CAL takes preferential intervew pilots. If we are lucky, they will take 35 per month so movement may be good into early 06. Once CAL is done taking preferential interview pilots, look for upgrade times to be similar to those at Eagle. XJT will have a preferential interview process set up at CAL in lieu of a flow-through. This was negotiated into the concessions that CAL took. However, I doubt that will actually create much movement at XJT because CAL will probably only take 1 of us for every 10 OTS guys.

Upgrade time varies who knows what the hell is happing at Eagle with flow backs...If I was your buddy I would get the f!@# out of Eagle without batting an eye.

I left Eagle after 5.5 years! Now I live at home and life is good. Eagle is a good company but the 3-5 year outlook is realy not that good. 2 or less years at Eagle, I would say go as fast as you can. Unless you live in DFW.

I just got the call from EXjet too. I've been at eagle since Sept. on the ATR. I am tempted to at least interview and see what they have to say. I'll be getting the anniversary pay raise and the jet soon and it will be a much easier commute for me to ORD than it would to EWR or IAH.

I'll probably upgrade in 4-5 years at eagle. From the sounds of it it'll probably be the same if I go to EXjet now.

Movement should be going forward again in a few months. Eagle is probably in the same position Exjet was 2-3 years ago. Little movement and the flowbacks/flow throughs should start leaving in a year or two. It's a tough call.

Is this guy your talking about a GS instructor now? I think I know who you are talking about.

Uh, you might want to extend your upgrade projection about 5 years at Eagle. Majority opinion is more like 8-10 to upgrade barring significant new airplane orders. Hopefully you're right though.

It will be a 8-10 year upgrade at eagle if flowbacks never leave. With AA running short on Super-80 FO's, recall should (speculation) begin within 12-18 months or so. AA can't beat the math, 300-500 AA pilots retiring every year indefinitely. They will have to start recall soon, given AA doesn't downsize (please God, NO). Depending on how fast they are recalled there will be 400+ capt vacancies at eagle over the few years after recall begins, not including the 100+ flow throughs and other attrition.

**CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** that Kool-Aid is good, has a funny after-taste though. Seconds anyone??

I think he should go where ever he has the best QOL for him...then again I've told him that he sucks too (to his face):) How's life at AT treating you T?

Stay away from Eagle. xjet not getting any new jets but they aren't getting flush backs either. Eagle pilots will be hurting for a long time in the future.

The difference being at Eagle you're going to upgrade on the ATR or SAAB. At XJT it will be the jet.

I don't care what I upgrade in, if it's a DC-3 that hasn't passed an annual since D-day, I'll be happier than a pig in s**t. But, knowing that I'll have jet capt. pay when I upgrade would be nice.

I'm not too concerned about upgrading immediately, though it would be nice, I know I still have a lot to learn in the right seat. I just don't want to be waiting to upgrade after I have 3-4,000 hrs in the right seat.

I'll definitely interview with Coex given the opportunity.

Yeah, who cares what you upgrade in. The important thing is that you upgrade. If you think Eagle will see major movement in the next couple of years I would stay put. Not to be pessimistic, but I'm afraid the current movement at XJT is going to come to a grinding hault next year when new planes stop coming in and CAL stops taking so many people.

Movement at Xjet is still good for the time being at least. In the last system bid I moved up about 100 spots in system seniority and 40 spots in IAH. Been here 6 months and I'm already mid-level FO seniority. I'll enjoy this while it lasts.
