In reading some of the threads my understanding is that both XJET and COLGAN are flying for CONTINENTAL out of HOUSTON is that correct? And if it is can anyone tell me why?

Thanks

Not sure if it's true, but if it is, it's nothing new. All the 'majors' that have feeders use many different companies, and often many different ones at the same airport. I was w/ Colgan and in BOS it varied from 5 to 3 different carriers for USAir. In LGA it was about the same, or more. In PIT there was alot, probably all of the express carriers (USAir) out of there. Even some smaller airports have the same situation. It all depends on the routes each company has.

Here is a brief history of the universe:

Continental Express operated EMB-145/135s, ATRs, EMB-120s,andBeech1900s out of Houston until roughly 2002 when ContinentalExpressbecamean all jet airline flying only EMB-145/135s. At roughlythesametime Continental Express was IPO'd and the name oftheresultingairline became ExpressJet dba Continental Express. Also, aboutthe same time some of the old turboprop routes that couldnotbesustained by a jet were bid upon by other airlines asExpressJetdidnot want to fly props anymore. Skywest was awarded thoseroutesandthey now fly them but only until June 05. Colgan hasbeenanounced astheir replacement. Clear as mud?

PS: I have no clue why the forums are deleting some of the word spaces.

A recent ad on climbto350.com for Colgan mentioned they were going into Texas soon. I guess this is what they ment.

Worked for Colgan for 2 and a half years. It won't take them long to get the boot from Continental. All those ferry flights for broke airplanes seem to discourage pax loyalty.

CAL used to codeshare some Colgan flights out of IAD back in '98 on the old-ass 1900C's, and dumped them back then for the very same reasons you mentioned.

I'm kind of surprised to hear that CAL is using them again.

Let's see, there's an old P-diddy song (back when he was know as Puff-Daddy) saying something like it's all about the Benjamins.

Just a guess.

Is everyone forgetting that CAL also puts mortals in the hands of Gulfstream .... over shark infested waters ..... come on now ....

Colgan will soon dominate the skies over the lone star state ...

Yeeehaw !!!

Colgan is worse then mesa. If the owner wasn't a senator, they would have been gone a long time ago.

Somebody has been dipping into the moonshine again!!

When are you coming out this way for some free (quasi) alcohol?

I remember the Colgan ATL Hilton Head service. Don't know why it was dropped. CAL used to fly a 727 from IAH to ATL and it continued to CHS and back to ATL before returning to IAH. I was in hte jumpseat one evening when the crew was getting close to min fuel and kept talking about "just going to CHS" . I thought it must have been their alternate but learned from the Engineer that it was scheduled and that they were probably going to just heaad to CHS first then ATL. Long story short, we made it to ATL and the crew timed out and CAL was up a creek with a 727 doa in ATL with a reseve crew having to fly an MD-80 out of EWR to pick up the stranded passangers.

I think the SAAB's will look nice in CAL colors and I look forward to catching a ride into BPT on one to visit family sometime.

I'm tired of reading your daily put downs and inaccurate information concerning Colgan.

Yes, Colgan ain't the greatest company to work for...I know...I work there and yes they do have their share of problems like all the other carriers but to say that Colgan is worse than Mesa....you my friend have declared war on the
Godfather.

If you work at a better company, then congratulations...you are a very lucky man. So don't slam me or my company or rub it in the face of those of us who have to still suffer with being here. I want out of Colgan like so many have done before me, but for now I'm stuck until the Feds call me to be an Inspector. My life is bad enough without having you to remind me that I absolutely suck since I am now the lowest Bottom Feeding Scum Sucker on the Planet and that I work at Colgan. I don't see anyone from Colgan saying to you that your company is worse than Mesa, do I?

Will somebody get me outta here? Chper help need trip to Vegas.

sorry, back to regular scheduled programming.

Simply amazing. Viewing posts like this makes me wonder how children like you pass airline interviews.

You're joking, right?

For what it's worth, Colgan isn't all that bad.

I worked there, and at Eagle, and there really wasn't much difference between the two. Oh, except at Colgan everyone knows your name, and at Eagle everyone knows you by your employee number.

Oh, and that you can upgrade in your lifetime at Colgan, but not at Eagle.

The rest is all the same.

I don't recall them flying the CAL stuff into IAD but I know they flew the EAS routes into Augusta, Bar Harbor, Rockland, Maine. Its funny its all the old Bar Harbor Airlines routes. I think they still do that now just for US Air.
