Hey all. I took my CFI written in April '02 and ran into some financial troubles. I am now back in the swing of things but will not be able to complete my CFI until this summer. My question is my written will expire this April, will my local FSDO grant me an extension or will I have to take another written? If I do have to take another written will I have to go through another ground school? I am going through Part 61. Thanks for any help.

You have to retake the written. The regs are specific as to the valid time of the written. As for ground school, there is no requirement to have any under part 61. However, it wouldn't ne a bad idea.
