Dart-

Not right now, but when they are hiring, it'll be here: www.worldair.com. I have several friends who fly for them and nothing is happening right now. Maybe in the near future, though?

A friend of mine who works for World and lives in San Antonio told me that once they figure out how many pilots will be required for the 767 and additional MD-11 then hiring will resume.
But that may be delayed until the pilots get a new contract.

Getting Warmer

They are starting with two 767-300ERs with two to follow.

It was announced that they will be hiring next month for the 767 or MD-11. I haven't heard if the hiring is from the resumes they already have or if they will accept new resumes.

They just cancelled the bid for 767. They said it will probably be issued again in about 90 days.. Supposedly they cant find the airplanes they want until later this year or 2005. Decided it was better to wait and get the ones they wanted than have a mix that we werent happy with. Was still some mention about increasing the Md-11 fleet.

Does World make you resign seniority number and call back rights if furloughed from another airline? Do they do a non-competition letter?

Aside from that....good schedule? How long are the trips/parings, time to Capt, commuting possibilities?

Unfortunately they do require you to resign....I was in recurrent last month and met 3 new hires from US Air who all had to give up 14 years plus. They also have training contract.
Home based so there really is no commuting\ can pick your closest airport in lower 48 and they buy you a ticket to get to work. Schedule varies... takes some getting used to as you can be gone extended periods but on other hand can be home extended periods. time to captain is hard to say however my guess is somewhere between 6 to 7 years...
