Just trying to find out info on hiring, requirements for working in the U.K. for EasyJet, Brittania, BMI etc. My fiance is British so getting a work visa should not be a problem. Any info or links to good websites would be much appreciated.
Most of the airlines require employment in the UK without restrictions. Not sure if work visa would have restriction. I'm sure it's only valid for a year or two. problem! If you havent converted your licenses you have no chance.
being married to a U.K. citizen will not make it easy to get a work permit. You will still need a ligit offer. They will have to prove that no one(citizen) is available for the position. As mentioned earlier, you will need to acquire a CAA certificate. There are alot of out of work pilots in Europe.
One might want to check the Easy Jet website. Last time I checked they were not able to sponsor work permits. The best thing you could do is get married in the states (or country of nationality) and see the British council to get a marriage visa. Then you can come to England and have the right to work with unrestricted leave. That's if you fiancée is British.
Also take into account that you have to take 14 written exams, maybe less if you have the appropriate ratings etc. Though if you do have 4600 hours then you might be able to get around some of the requirements. I have seen many experienced pilots struggle with these exams. Oh and don't forget you actual check ride. The CAA charges £578 just for the examiner. Plus you will need something similar to a PA 44 which runs in the price of £235 per hour. I wish you the best of luck.
